Sunday morning March 29th
Good Sunday morning ya'll.
I have been working on the blue baby layette for my daughter to give a pregnant friend. Sweater, hat booties all done. Working on blankie. Knew I would need to get more blue yarn. Since there is no 'dye lot' on yarn anymore I was confident I would be able to match the color. Got to WalMart and they DO NOT carry the Red Heart Baby Sport yarn!!! I am positive that is where I got the yarn I am using. Did they discontinue it? Anyway, got the Bernat blue and came home and began again on the afghan. The color and texture is slightly different than the other. Not enough that I will need to re-do the sweater, hat and booties, but I did have to start the afghan over. GRRRR!! Luckily I only had about 4 hours into the one I had to scrap! I will keep it and perhaps look for that yarn online or next time I go to Oregon, and I'll finish that afghan for the next baby.
Grandsons will be here soon for their BLT's and then my Momma calls for her regular Sunday morning visit. Since she got out of the hospital on Monday she has called me every afternoon, so not sure what she'll have to talk about. But I know she is lonely, so we just visit.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
Good Morning Pat and Friends,
Just a couple of minutes. I've been up for hours. Can't wait to get in the car and head to the Oregon coast. The twins and parents, Bess the big dog, and our son Nathan are meeting us. Hope the sun shines on us even a little bit!!
We're meeting up with other friends on Monday night at their rental house for an old fashioned get together. Sherri is of Italian heritage so you can imagine the feast. Just a bit of pasta will satisfy me but the fun we will have. We all have our grown kids with us this time for the first time in many years. We used to do this each spring break for many years until the kids all got so involved in sports, social events, etc.
I've packed everything but the sink. Mike will have a cow when he tries to get his stuff in. Better get my shower before he leaves without me! Talk to you all when we get back on Thursday. Behave yourselves while I'm gone. Or at least don't get caught if you're naughty!

Well I have only had a couple of hours of sleep for various reasons, but, I am still going
to Church as that is the only positive thing right now & it really helps the rest of My week. I can't use not enough sleep as a reason not to go!!

Other than that will probably sleep later some & better tonight, I hope!!
I'm off to the hospital in a few minutes to test babies.....I'm trading with a colleague today. I wonder how many babies were born on Maui yesterday...I'll find out soon!
Yesterday was our big Homeowners' meeting and it was fireworks, but it looks like we WILL be tenting our whole building in Sept. and I'm going to have to put my kitties through trauma for a week. Sigh. Will worry about that when the time comes....wasted energy right now.
After the meeting we had a HUGE pupu party down on the lawn by the beach. Oh, my, you should have seen the food. The pupu table alone had tons of good munchies from mini pizzas, to stuffed mushrooms, to olives, to baked squares of delish surprises, etc. Then there was the major catered food......omigod! Pulled pork, teriyaki chicken wings, salads galore, and oh so much more. The dessert table was nothing short of decadent!! Cheesecake, chocolate cake, brownies, greenies, cookies of every size and flavor. I had two oatmeal cookies!! I filled two plates for a friend of mine who is unable to walk easily and it was fun vicariously watching her eat everything! But I had a lot of tastes and everything went down fine, so I was a happy camper.
Oops....time to fly. I hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Karen C......enjoy those babies at the beach!! I'm jealous.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
I hope that the sun is shining (at least figuratively) on each of you this morning. It is a beautiful day here, we have had a lot of rain and the wind is blowing today, but the sun is shinning right now and it is 72 right now. I am loving it!
I think I will go for a nice long walk! My Sunday School Class (3rd/4th graders) were full of spring fever today and wanted to chat instead of pay attention. If it is pretty next Sunday we may have class outside!
Well ya'll have a wonderful day!
Hugs
Went to Sunday School this morning. Mary Stayed home. A little sore. Yesterday we were at Eddie's game and she was playing with Alex (4 year old). I joined them pitched to him while he hit. He went to throw the ball to me and hit Mary square in the face from about 3 feet away. He felt so bad, but all is ok.
Today, Eddie has a game at 5PM (semifinals) and if they win 7PM. Then I have to get to work. Quick like.
I shall be back later, rather than sooner probably.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Oh my, I had a surprise in my e-mail this morning. I've been searching for old friends on Facebook and just for fun, looked for an old White Sox catcher, Ed Herrmann, who I had a fan club for when I was in high school. It was my first journalistic venture ... I had quite a newsletter for him! I had to type it on a manual typewriter through six pieces of carbon paper ... I had a good 75 members, from all over the country. I met a lot of people! It was so much fun. I think I charged $1 a year, and I lost a lot money doing it. Anyway, I found him and asked to be his friend, and this morning, he accepted! Wow, that was so neat! I still have a cracked baseball bat that he gave me (well, he gave the Sox PR person) that he used to hit a game-winning grand slam in Detroit back in the '70s. It has his name and everything on it, and you can see the slice where he hit the ball. He was going to throw it out when the PR person asked if she could give it to me. So I have it now.
My poor big toe, it still hurts so much. I got to get it wet this morning and take off the bandages ... yuck! Lots of dried blood ... looks really ugly! The bandages wouldn't even come off until I got them wet, and then there was blood running down the drain ... but it was basically just dried blood coming off. It was really hurting this morning until I iced it, and that seemed to help more than the vicodin I took when I got up. So I'm hopeful that icing will ease the pain.
No big plans for today ... laundry (one load in), dishes (already ran dishwasher), basketball, reading, lounging around, calling a few friends. Already talked to mom and cried to her about the pay situation ... she said she can't help me, and I told her I didn't ask her for any help. She told me to ask my brother (the oldest one, Ed, the one with the money). Well, I don't want to ask for any money, I already owe too much. And he has three mortgages now, unless he sold his house (he remodeled his mother-in-law's house and moved in with her because she didn't want to live alone anymore, so now he has to sell his; the second mortgage is on his vacation home ... told you, he has money). But it felt good just to cry to mom ... everyone has to do that once in awhile.
I need to call Margie too and tell her the summer trip is off because of the pay situation. Just can't afford to go anywhere. I really wanted to see her, but I really can't afford to spend money on hotels, even for a couple of days. I'm going to be spending all my vacation weeks at Casa de Briesch, either here or in Franklin Park, Ill. (mom's home), or maybe at my brother Gary's in Wisconsin.
Oh well, I still have a job. It may not be a job I'm very happy about right now, but it's a job.
It's raining/snowing here right now. Typical Midwestern spring weather, you never know what's going to happen.
Well, have a good day.
