Any 50 and over lap banders out there?

Hi !!

I had  my lap band surgery in December 2008 and am doing ok with the band.  Any good advice for me?  I am scheduled for my 3rd fill next week.  30lbs down to date.

Hi, Pattie -  I also got my lapband in December - the 12th.  I'm down 3l.  Personally, I'm very frustrated on getting no restrictions with these fills.  I had my third one early about 2 weeks ago.
I have 5.8 ccs in a 14 cc Lapband.  Maybe you're more patient than I am, but I figure at 60 I
shouldn't have to be!

I had an unexpected gain a few weeks ago and then an unexpected big (5 lbs) loss the next week which made up for it.  I had another unexpected gain this past week.  I weigh on Fridays at home so we'll see in a few days.  I hate that.  Everyone says its water weight, which makes sense.

Sounds like you are doing great!  I have had 3 fills now and have great restriction.  Today has not been a good day for food - I don't know if it is because I was sick yesterday with headache and cold or what is going on...usually I can eat 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup of food - today I am doing good to get 3 bites to stay down.

Anyway - I don't have any advice - it sounds like you are doing what you should be doing... just follow the rules

I was 54 years old when I was banded (I'm 55 now).  I could write a Masters Thesis of advice for bandsters.  If you PM me your e-mail address, I'll send you the short version in a Word document.

Hi!

I am a bander who got her Realize band on Sept. 29th.  I just got my 4th fill yesterday in a 9cc band.  I now have 6.2 cc.  I am not to go back to the surgeon until my bandiversary in Sept. unless I need to get more fill.

I have lost 31 pounds but have had my own issues with self-control.  the band works for you as long as you do what you are supposed to do!!!!!!

Keep posting and you will do fine.

Hi Pattie, I am an old bandster. I had my band in 2002. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Just follow your surgeons program and listen to your body to recognize hunger and fullness. Good luck. Mona

I was banded on August 12, 2008 and am doing pretty good!  I have had my 4th fill and am feeling some good restriction right now.  I hope it will stay for a while.  As you can see from my ticker I am down 62 lbs and more than that I feel great!!!

Hang in there and keep on doing what your doc tells you and you will do fine.  It sounds like you are doing very well.
