wows. . . little, bitty ones that I . . .

almost didn't recognize. In just a few days time I've had to postpone a much anticipated trip to Italy. Within just a few days I've replaced that trip with a few days in Salt Lake City doing genealogy research. This is something I've wanted to do for years. Here's where the little wows come in that I almost didn't acknowledge. I found a package including hotel and airfare at a little boutique hotel called the Peery Hotel. It's close to the family history center. . .close enough to walk that is. About 3 blocks. No problem. I could have found one closer, but this one is historic and looks wonderful. Check it out on line! And I'm planning to take just a carryon and take the city transit from the airport to my hotel, ($1.25 each way), drop off my bags, and walk to the library by about 9am the day I arrive. I don't want to waste one moment of my time. Four years ago a city bus and a 3 block walk. . . Not even possible at 377 lbs. Mini wows for sure. Possibly because I take things for granted that I can now do them easily. I don't want to ever forget but after  4 years of being able to live a full life again I sometimes forget how difficult life was before WLS.

I want to give you a big hug and say good for you.  These are not mini wows, these are huge wows to anyone who, like yourself, can remember what it was like before we could do more than worry about how we would get from here to there. What a fun trip this will be for you.

There are no little bitty WOWS.  All of them are major.  Because a few years ago, they would have been so far out of our range of possibilities.

Our hotel in Galvaston is one block from TerryT's 4Bucks, and one block further from the pier when we disembark.  We're walking, dragging our suitcases and assorted paraphanalia.  (Stuff...)  Yes, the luggage has wheels.  No, three years ago we would never have considered walking.  Hell, three years ago we would never have considered GOing!

I'm so pleased you're able to replace your Italy trip with something you really want to do..

Happy hunting!

Candy, You little packrat, you. Will the luckage fees on the airlines "contain" you to one suitcase on wheels? I sure hope so. I can just see little you hauling one huge, wheeled suitcase in each hand, purse, camera and assorted "sundries" around your neck.  Remember you're leaving the cold behind for a few days. Suimsuit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, a couple pairs of shorts(maybe a top or two!) and a cute sundress, comfie shoes for walking and sandals. . . One carry-on should do it!!!! What a wonderful trip to spend getting ready for as you still have cold in NY.

I know what you mean about those little wows.  Every single time I take the city bus, I think about how before I would not have been able to get up the step to get in the bus, how I would have had trouble sitting in the seats, and how I would have struggled to walk to and from the bus stop.    I'm like you, traveling now is so easy and quick.  Have fun doing your research.

My Pastor of my church just spent last week doing traveling stuff & had to go thru Salt Lake said it was cold, snowy, & very cold. Remember we live in the desert & he left 85 degrees. will it's not that this week, but, it was last week.
