What's new Tuesday?

I used to live in the Dakotas, so I know all about the Plains blizzards (Aberdeen, S.D., 1989-1997). Lived through some of the worst blizzards in the winter of 96-97, followed by the worst flooding (we didn't get it nearly as bad as they did in NoDak, with the Red River that year, when the Grand Forks Herald's building burned down when the city flooded. But yeah, it can be bad out on the Plains with those blizzards. Stay safe and warm if you don't have to be outside.

I'd love to try something new, if there was something out there. I've never done anything but newspapers. I love newspapers ... I hate to see them dying. It tears my heart out to see newspapers close up. It's like a member of the family has died.

Good morning Eileen and everyone,

Sorry about the job woes, this kind of stress can be unbearable.  Be tough.  My mind is wandering to the AIG execs who have returned their bonuses....like we should feel sorry for them.  HA!!

I tell ya, George, your baseball speak is like Greek to me.  You lost me right after Eddie batted 5th.  My ex was a sports fanatic, so I usually read a book while he shouted at the television.  For 32 years our Saturdays and Sundays centered around the games that were on TV, at least most of the time.  The new wife has him now.  The last 4 years have been blissfully sports free!

Something strange is happeneing to my skin. After 2 1/2 years it is shifting downward. It looks more saggy and crinkled than ever, and looks like it is melting. Even my forearms have sags. At this rate, before long it will be pooled around my ankles. I think I am deflating like an old balloon.

That is too funny, Annette!  Was it someone on this board who called the sagging thighs "Shar Pei dog thighs?"  With bat wings, Shar Pei thighs, the girls like torpedoes, at least I'm feeling good!

Sunny here in SE Michigan, but getting cloudy.  The publisher wants me to take pictures at the cemetery for the book cover when there are "pretty" clouds in the sky.  Don't think it will be a "pretty cloud day" today.  I have a few choice words for her about pretty clouds and barren tree branches, but I'll keep my mouth zipped.

Other than that, I have a client to work for today and I help a shut-in by doing her grocery shopping for her and that's on the schedule, too.  Sort of an easy going day for me.

Take care all . . . enjoy the day.

Elaine

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.

Elaine, A favorite internet site of mine is the Randolph Co Cemetery Project page. There are pictures of the cemeteries as you scroll the names and information. And it's all set to old fashioned church organ music in the background. Pretty darn close to being there! A funny story about my Richard Clark. For over 70 years he didn't have a monument with his name on it. Just field stones marked his grave and his wife and daughter's. We applied for a Civil War stone but after years of waiting took up a collection from family members. His stone was put in place about 10 years ago. When I first checked this cemetery site I found out that he now has TWO monuments. . . yep, the "official" one finally arrived years later! This cemetery is almost totally lost to the growth in AR. My elderly family members who took care of it are now in their late 80s. It's so sad.

My brother works for AIG, but he's a grunt ... he prints the insurance policies in Milwaukee. He didn't get a big bonus. In fact, he's fearful for his job, too.

Good to see another Michigander on the board. I know things are tougher on the east side.

My friend Rox used to go with me to baseball games and bring her kayak and nursing magazines to read ... she wasn't a big sports fan either but she enjoyed the beer.

A thought Eileen. I was a proofreader for a yearbook publishing company many years ago. Are you in a large enough area where you might find some extra work proofing? Or doing final copies of papers? I'm thinking like student papers at a college perhaps? I know that spell check catches a lot of stuff but it still leaves a lot to be desired. I'm remembering the 6th grade science report that was beautifully done except. . . . the octopus had testicles instead of tentacles!!!!

Good Morning Eileen and Friends, I didn't sleep much last night either. Not sure why. We're kind of being lazy this week. After spending all week with the twins it has taken us a few days to recoop. Love them to pieces, but boy, do they wear us out.

We're headed to the Oregon Coast on Sunday for a few days. Erin and her family will join us for two days. Sure hope the weather cooperates so that we can get the girls outside for a bit. We're taking strollers and kid packs.

Hope to get to see Cindy and Ron P if they are back from California. They live in Newport just south of Lincoln City where we will be.

Nothing exciting to report that I haven't already inserted in reply to other people. You all hang in there and try to think positive thoughts.

I'm home for a lunch so I thought I'd stop in and say hi.

I know how depressing this must be for you Eileen. I hope you can do something with that bankruptcy. Then it will be like  you got a raise.

Yesterday late afternoon in Omaha we had bad thunderstorms with tornado warnings. Don't know if there was any damage anywhere. My daughter tells me they are predicting 8-14 inches of snow here this weekend. Yuck! Last week it was in the 70's.

Well, have a good day everyone. Have to get back to work.

ACCKKK I have not heard this... But I am going to look at weather services right now. I just hate the big wet March storms, they are so dangerous. You wreck your car and by mid afternnon everything is melted away. I just knew we werent out of the woods yet.. Everyone here at work got stuck and had to stay during the warnings yesterday.
