What a great weekend!

I have been scarce this weekend.  Only got on line to post the prayer thread on the TMB and the Bible verses.  We picked up my nephew on Thursday and the hectic weekend started.  Took him on a whirlwind tour of Dallas at night.  Showed him the sites.  It amazed him how easy it is to drive in downtown Dallas.  But he is from New York where it is impossible.  Friday we barbequed at my son's house.  Entire family.  Ate chicken and deer, baked beans, etc.  Great time.  Then we played a game of Apples to Apples - wonderful family game.  We had 11 people playing.

Saturday was a wedding show - yippee.  But after that we went to Oklahoma for the casino.  I came home $30 richer, my son came home up $150.

Then, of course Sunday School and Church on Sunday.  I was looking forward to working out, but after our pastor spoke I just wanted to go home and be thankful for my family.  My pastor actually broke into tears while asking for a prayer request.  The woman who runs my church's preschool program has been given 8 months to live.  She has been running the program for 10 or more years.  She has two sons, 11 and 17.  Cancer started in the lymph nodes and has now spread to where they can't control it.  They offered heavier chemo, but said it probably would not work.  She chose to just live as long as she could and enjoy her life.  Her name is Lynn, please keep her family in your prayers.  They are a wonderful Christian family, and they know if the Lord chooses not to heal her here, he surely will there.

Well, sorry to end with a downer, but that was my weekend.

What's up with you folks?????

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Margo, I have found a new cousin and her family also. I got to talk to her (she is my great aunts daughter) and found out that she is 70 and very sick. I have talked to her daughter for hours....I am so glad that I have free long distance and so does she. I couldn't imagine that long distance bill if we didn't! I just love finding new relatives. Several years ago I found another cousin from my Grandmothers brother......his granddaughter.

I love finding new relatives don't you?

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Wow, I wouldn't have figured you for a gambling man.  I would think that that would be one of those sins that are not committed by people of your faith.  Interesting.  I don't gamble and it's not because I feel that it is morally wrong, though many do, I see it as just giving money away.  But you won!  Go George.  All that prayer is paying off.  Okay, now I'm being mean so I'll stop.

So how the hell is everyone?  I've been ultra busy and have not had time to turn around and know that I am greatly missed. LOL.  Just had to drop in and be the moral gauge again.

Today is going to be a busy day for me.  I'm getting ready to head off for a conference and I haven't even written the paper that I am supposed to present.  In addition, I am grading papers that seem to say the same thing over and over and I just want to scream can anyone pick a more interesting topic?  Alas, all is not lost, I will get them graded and they will see their mistakes and I will, hopefully, have them pick better topics the last paper.  I should never ever let students randomly pick topics.  Note to self.  Hope you all have a fruitful day.

My personal opinion on gambling is different.  I go with a specific amount in my hand for entertainment (and not a big amount - on this day it was larger than normal - $50).  I figure I would spend that much for entertainment that day regardless, so, in this case I actually got a return for my entertainment.

Gambling is a problem when you do it with the expectation of winning and winning big.  I was happier that I won, but I would have been alright if I lost, as I got to spend time with my wife and son.

Morning George,

Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend.  Glad to hear your trip to the casino was profitable.  Lynn will be on our prayer list.

This weekend seemed to zoom by.  I had a men's meeting at church Saturday morning that last a couple hours.  Then I went home, too Brenda out to lunch and went back to church for a meeting before the Chili fundraiser.  It was a great day but we didn't win any of the raffle prizes.  We still won because they raised over $3300 towards a men's restroom downstairs.  Yesterday we had Sunday School, church, and lunch with some of our church friends.  We then had to get some housework/laundry done.  I barely found 30 minutes to play on Facebook the entire weekend.  lol

Tonight we have a company coming to give us an estimate on blinds and another company to talk about our kitchen remodeling.  Seems like we're always so busy that we don't have any time to relax.

Busy week at work so I better get at it.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Monday everyone.

George, congrats on your win.  I will keep Lynn in my prayers.

My Mom called yesterday AM to say she had a sleepless night, had diarhea and was going back to bed.  She called in the afternoon to say she was in the ER!!!!She lives alone in a retirement place.  I guess the admin lady took her to the ER and Mom used her cell to call.  Cardiologist was in to see her EKG was fine.  She said she was 'feeling better now that I have someone to take care of me.'  But she NEVER did say what made her decide to go.  I am still trying to find out what's up.  I'm not really worried, since she has been to every doc known to man in the last month and everyone said she was fine.  Just one more reason I wish she was closer!

Everyone have a fantabulous day.

George - what fun family time. Care to adopt me? So sad about your friend, the last thought you wrote was warm and thoughtful.

Man oh man, this insurance stuff is driving me crazy. I needed to fill a prescription, despite not having coverage. The price was $75.00. I asked the pharmasist if there was a comparable OTC. He took me to the aisle and showed the EXACT same med for $15.00. The ONLY difference ... the cost of them putting the med in the bottle. How ridiculous

My daughter's MIL arrived. Her first words " you are so skinny" She's a nice person and we have two special people in common - our M&M's. Oh yeah, and  our kids are married to each other also. It feels good to have a person who doesn't get bored listening to me brag.

Hello everyone,

I've been reading this forum for a couple weeks now and today I thought I'd finally post because y'all seem like such a nice group of people.

I had RNY last Nov and am feeling wonderful!  Spring usually makes me feel that way, but this spring it's something special!  I've lived in Dearborn/Dearborn Heights in Michigan my whole life and have worked the last seven years as a professional genealogist.  In my spare time I'm working on a book for Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series on Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit.  I know, I know, a book on a cemetery, how weird.

I did something crazy last week and registered for the Breast Cancer 3-Day that's going to be in August.  My sister-in-law and a very old friend have it.  Another friend's wife and daughter, within a year of each other, now have the same form of terminal breast cancer that has attacked their spines.  His daughter is just 37 years old.  Something inside told me it was time to help and the 3-Day was the only thing I could think of.  It will probably do me in, but (lol) the doctor did say to walk.

I have two grown sons, and two amazing little grandsons that make my eyes sparkle every time I think of them.

That's all the news that's fit to print.  The rest doesn't make for good reading on such a beautiful, sunny day.

I'm adding Lynn and her family to my prayers.  Every day spent together is a blessing from God.

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.
