I am so sorry you have had to postpone your trip but if your friend would have gone and been miserable it would have hampered the good time of both of you. I lived in Italy for 5 years and and I don't think you will be dissapointed in the fall. Fall is when the grapes rippen and the winerys have long lines of trucks heaping with grapes  The smells are fantastic !! Which is a wonderful change from the constant smell of burning garbage that is the usual smell. I don't know where you are going but My favorite place in the world is Sorrento I do hope you get to stop there, it is up a mountain road around the Bay of Naples. Asisi is also so peaceful and beautiful. Ahh I have a smile on my face just thinking of all the wonderful places. Please take extra care to have purses that zip securely and can't be yanked from you. In places like Rome you will we swarmed by groups of  cute little gypsy children...they will be picking your pocket, or carefully getting into your purse. The same goes for setting a purse on the car seat beside you. Always keep it between your feet on the floor, or attatched to you. Those guys on scooters will zip beside you at a stop light , reach in and snatch your purse before you have time to blink. No matter when you go, it will be a trip of a life time..

Well poop, Karen.

I know you were looking forward to that trip.  But there has to be a reason other than the obvious of why you are not going.

And you are right, your life IS good... my, you have more going for you than most and enjoy most everything.  I'd love to have girlfriends to go camping with and take trips... oh, wait, I do... I've been with you, Nancy, and Candy!!

Not a lot happening today.  Did the $4 thing this morning, came home and have spent HOURS trying to do one or two things and just don't have the oooomph to make any of it work...so will just go get my toenails done and call it a day.  Mike is coming over later and I'm baking some lamb w/pineapple and dried cranberries with sweet potatoes in my tagine for dinner tonight.  I think I'll make some couscous to go with it. Never made that so it should be interesting.

Glad you had a good week with the twins.  That's always an upper for you and Mike.... but tiring, I know.

Guess I need to run... it's toenail time.
