Yeah Carla & I keep coming back to this stupid dry heat for some reason. Only God know the reasons why.  I love the majestic part of AZ, but when it gets to 120+ I wonder what keeps me coming back to this.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

No snow here today, just sunshine but it is colder: 36 degrees. It's payday, so with my half a paycheck I have to go buy groceries and pay bills and see what's left. I have a three-day weekend this weekend, and it's my last Saturday off for awhile because I work next Saturday and then start on my new schedule.

On the way into work yesterday, I stopped at Culver's for my friend Jeanine's fundraiser for her cat rescue, Reuben's Room. This is where I got Nettie and Diva. So we talked about how Diva was doing. She said Diva isn't doing well. She plays and acts like a healthy cat, but then she poops outside the box and it's runny poop. They haven't been able to figure out why. (That was my problem too.) So the vet is going to do an ultrasound to see if there's a mass. Jeanine fears it's cancer. That really scares me. It was bad enough to send her back to Jeanine when she was healthy but to hear she might be that sick ... but at least it would explain a lot of things. But if it was cancer, wouldn't she be losing weight or something? She looks and acts healthy, other than the running bowel movements?

On the same subject ... pets ... my friend Mary Kay who's in Baton Rouge right now had to take her dog Denali to the vet down there. Denali was throwing up ... seems she has pancreatitis. She is doing better after some treatment. Denali is 13, so she is an older dog.

Well, I should go get dressed for my shopping day. Have a good day.

Eileen, the vet told my sister and I that it is hard to know if a cat is sick. They go on like normal even when they are very sick. My cat (which I had to give to my sister) was acting normal but then she fell of the back of the chair and she hit her head. Carolyn and I took her to the vet and she told us that Missy had cancer and the best thing to do was to put her to sleep. Here we took her to the vet just thinking she hit her head and came home with no Missy. The vet said that cats are very good at not letting anyone know that they are sick. So that might answer your question on Diva. Just a thought.

I know what you mean about cats hiding their illnesses!  Last week I took my cat into the vet for a quick checkup and he needed almost $300 worth of treatment.  I am still giving him subcutaneous fluids at home.  He's 12, and that's kinda old for a cat.  He's such a sweetheart though, and it would break my heart if he doesn't get better.

Same old thing going on here.  I am working WAY too many hours, and not getting enough sleep. We are rolling out a new time and attendance system for the organization, and I have to teach 2300 employees and 200 managers how to use it.  First group goes live April 5th (500 employees) and the rest go live on May 17th!  Yikes.

One of my key employees just gave notice, since she will be graduating from law school and moving on up. Sad to see her go.  I'm in the midst of interviewing candidates for her position.  With the economy the way it is, I've had folks with all kinds of educational backgrounds and experience applying.  I have several good choices.   I've offered the job to one young woman, but she is waiting to hear from another department that pays a bit more (in the same organization).

That's it for me.  Take care everyone!

Oh, I know they're good at hiding their illnesses. But Diva is so young, too (7, going on 8). I know cancer knows no age. Well, we don't know if it's that yet, but at this point, Jeanine and I are at wit's end.

Missy was only about 5 or 6 when she fell and that is when we found out about the cancer. You hit it on the head when you said that cancer knows no age. It happens to young and old alike.

Hello Carla and everyone

Carla they have Tazo tea at Whole Foods. Not sure about the price but I'll look next time I'm there. Probably expensive. The only thing I buy there is my coffee. I got spoiled drinking their coffee and now I can't drink any other kind.

Judy - our unemployment office in Omaha takes about 2-3 weeks to get the first check. I hope yours is as fast. I know what it's like waiting for that first unemployment check. You should be able to check the status online.  Try finding the website by typing in ohio state unemployment or something similar.

My shoulder still hurts today thanks to the vicious p.t. I endured Tuesday. Read that as very little sleep for 2 nights now. I decided I'd wear myself out so I could sleep tonight no matter how much it hurt. Very funny, cuz now I'm totally rested and not sleepy at all. I've got over 15,000 steps on my pedometer and still about 3 hours till bedtime! That's a bit over 7 miles! If I could only mnanage to do that every day. Hope y'all had a good day. Tomorrow I go back to P.T. but have my kinder gentler therapist. Hallelujah!

 Cheers, Rusty
