HI Rusty
I am a newbie on this board & welcome you back & hope to see more of you around. Hey I agree with the others, do not beat yourself up. We all have had stress, anxiety, &
everday stuff hit us at one time or another & I am one of those that have had lots lately.
So I do relate, but, these boards & this one will help you where nothing else will.
Hang in there!! Hoping to get to know you better!!Everyone is great here!!

Hi Rusty,
Now is the time to put yourself first and just take care of you for awhile. You deserve to do that. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. Take the time to grieve and remember the good times with your mom.

25 pound gain is no biggie, you can get that weight off! You know what to do and you will do it in your own time. Stay involved, keep posting. Attend a bariatric support group in your area. We all know what you are going through or at least I do. I still miss my mom. I always will. I thank God I had the honor and privilege of taking care of her and letting her die at home.

I will always be an emotional eater, a comfort eater and a "mindless eater". I work on it everyday. I exercise every day or at least 6 days out of the week. I chose exercise as my "cross addiction" there was no way I could afford shopping and I don't reach for alcohol (my dad died at 52, alcohol, he was "recovered" but the damage was done to his liver, and he had a heart attack)

Now you have the gumption, the pizazz, you will get those pounds off. Depression is so hard to deal with. If it gets too bad, see a doctor if your not all ready. Sounds like now you are done with excuses and ready to jump back into the boat!! Good for you and if your not ready to jump back into the boat, we will wait for you.

Rusty. Everyone has said it all so well. I'll just say welcome home. You have been missed. Is Seattle on  your calendar anytime soon? Keep thinking we might be there close enough to meet up some day. With these grandbabies just 2 hours south of Seattle I'm on the west side way too often!

Hi Karen! I'm not getting up to Seattle this year. I'm normally up there around my birthday in August. But, selling our CO home and building a new one in AZ is taking up all our time, energy and finances. None of my adventure trips this year either. I have to admit that our cruise around the southern end of South America last year was enough expense and adventure for a few years.

 Cheers, Rusty

Welcome back!  I think we have all played with that slippery slope, so this is the right place to be for encouragement, support, and a kick in the rear if you need it.

You've been through so much this past year, that I encourage you to be kind to yourself and just start fresh.

I had a rotator cuff and supraspinatus tear repair in January, and my dear sister died in August.  I fell off my exercise routine completely, and started to eat convenient  (junk) food that was not good for me.  I'm only telling you this because sometimes it's good to hear that others are ALSO struggling - so there is no need to feel humiliated or disgusted.  We do the best we can at the time, then when we can do better, we will.

Sending you a gentle hug.

Ev

Thanks Ev. I appreciate your encouragement and honesty. How's your shoulder doing? I'm up to driving but still cannot lift much heavier than my water bottle. Onward and upward, eh?
Cheers,
Rusty

I remember those days!  I'm one year out from my shoulder repair, and I am doing GREAT.  The rehab therapy and exercises were a pain, but they definitely helped.  I have 95% of my range of motion back!  Hope your post op goes smoothly.
