You over 50 folks are sleeping in a bit today.

I am pretty excited right now.  One of my nephews from NY is coming in to visit this weekend.  I have not seen him in 2 years.  Brad (my son) saw him last year.  Penny (daughter) and Mary (wife) have not seen him since 1991.

He will be here for three days.  I am picking him up late Thursday afternoon.  Going to eat out Mexican and then drive through Dallas before taking him to my son's house to sleep.

Friday my son is having a BBQ.  Saturday we are going to Oklahoma to the casinos.  Sunday they are going paintballing after church, then he has to be at the airport at 4 PM or so.

So, what's new with yous guys?  (besides you are sleeping)

Morning George and the OFF gang

What a great weekend you have planned, George. Sounds like lots of fun and activity. Did you ever think you'd go paintballing?  Can't wait to hear about your visit and all the fun you're going to have.

Not much going on today. Work has slowed down this week which I'm grateful for. The last three weeks were blockbusters and I need to take a minute to breathe. I only had one client on the books yesterday and planned on just hanging out, taking some "me" time.  First thing I wanted to do was get some corned beef. As I said yesterday, Gary didn't want me to make it for dinner, so I figured I'd get some out. Went to a barbecue place near the salon where the owner had been on tv in the morning talking about how he cooked his corned beef and how tender it was......So, I go to one of his locations near the salon and they didn't have it there, only at the location where he cooks. It was a conspiracy, I tell you! Couldn't just leave the place without buying something, so I got a kids pulled pork sandwich, tossed the bun and had that. Not what I wanted.

See?  This is what happens when you put too much stock in food after WLS. My head said I had to have this food and when I didn't get it I felt deprived. I didn't need it, it's a stupid tradition, all I needed was lunch. There I was feeling like I missed out on some marvelous thing, when it was only, in fact, a piece of meat that had been soaked in brine and cooked to oblivion. Hmmmm. Lesson learned. Food is food. Not a holiday, not a tradition, not a reward....it's just food.

Ok.....off my soapbox. I feel better now! This epiphany came to me while I was whinning about my stupid sandwich, and now I realize the changes that have occured in my life since WLS. It's gonna be a good day.

I am not going to go paintballing this time, but I did last summer.  It's more for those younger folks.  I am not a hunter at all.  I did good when I went (actually captured the other team's flag in the one game), but not my cup of tea.  I would rather veg out in front of a tv.

Morning George,

Sounds like a fun weekend for you.   Good luck at the casinos.

I've been off work the past couple days getting new windows installed in the house.  They look fantastic, but they are wider than the old ones so now the blinds don't fit.  We have an appointment on Monday to get an estimate to get new ones.  We're going with the double cell honeycomb blinds.  We had them in our Dayton house and loved them.

Today I have class all day.  It's not one I'm thrilled with.  It's government purchase card training.  Oh well, it's just one day.

At church on Sunday, I read the scriptures.  I've found it an honor to be selected to get so involved in the church.  I can honestly say that having WLS has done wonders for my self esteem.  3 years ago, I would never had gotten in front of a group no matter what.  I'm really enjoying it now.

Being almost at my 3 year anniversary, I've found that I'm getting back into bad habits.  I don't take my vitamins like I should and I eat way too many carbs.  I've found myself gradually gaining, gaining, gaining.  Everyone says I still look great, but I've added 30 pounds since my lowest weight.  So I'm on Day 3 of the 5 day Pouch Test.  I'm sure glad it's only 5 days.  I've lost 4 pounds this week so it's working.   I guess I need to do it every other week to get back on track.  I'm not a fish person so today I'm eating canned chicken.   At least it's not liquid.  lol

Well, I need to look at these 75 emails I received the past couple days before I go to class.  Hope everyone has a great day.  The weather is finally improving.  It was 72 here yesterday.  It was a great day to have off from work.

I will probably only take $30 or so to the casino and may not play all of it.  Probably just the quarter slots.

We are going to Winstar in Oklahoma.  The reason we want to go is they have a Madrid Room and my wife lived in Madrid for almost 20 years.

Good Morning George & OFFr's,

Seeing family from far away is usually a good thing and sounds like you have a nice weekend planned with him and your family!  Enjoy!

As for me in my part of the world, I am looking forward to a nice weather day and have a busy couple of days coming up. . . today is off to NYC to meet with headhunters and I have a possible interview tomorrow, then Friday I will be attending a local job fair . . .  as I've said, looking for a job is a fulltime job. . .  no rest for the weary and trust me when I say, I am very worn down from all this stuff, last night I was just so exhausted. ..   anyway, I'm off, talk at you later. ..

Bye,\,

Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen

Laureen,

Good luck to you in looking for a job.  You are right, it is a full-time job.  I know several years back, it was very difficult finding plentiful work with decent pay with work being sent to India, the American pay being cut tremendously.  Thankfully, I found steady work and decent income through persistence.

Good luck to you.  Try and enjoy the Job Fair and not get too stressed out (like I would probably be - lol).

Blessings,

D

Good luck, Laureen ... they'd be lucky to have you.

Keeping up your self-esteem and confidence is hard when you've been laid off, so keep telling yourself you're a good person, a good worker and any employer would be lucky to have you on their staff. You have to have that self-esteem shining through. People see that, or they see that worn-out look of the unemployed. Don't let 'em see the second look.

We are so anxious to see him.  No one ever visits from up north (them stuck up Yankees) LOL.

It is going to be funny when he gets to his room.  He is a big Yankees fan.  They fixed him a bed with my grandson's Mets blanket on it.
