THE NEW OLD ME....

Hi Lora,

I'm relatively new, still deciding whether to take the plunge and go for the RNY.  I've started in nutrition classes since I have six months of those to do, and my appt with the surgeon isn't until May 26th, so I have a way to go before making this huge decision.

Ouch - lol - what a task you took having a total body lift.  You go girl.
Maybe if you have a chance, you can post some before and after pictures.

Have a great evening!

Hi Debbie,
Welcome aboard.  I can remember each time I decided to investigate and explore this RNY/WLS world.  The more info I got, the more I wanted to do it and didn't want to do it.  I believe you are having the normal and typical reactions to it.  This surgery was the beginning of my life and living my life.  I used my six month period to do alot of soul searching and introspection to figure out what got me to obesity...I knew it wasn't food.  When it was time for the actual surgery...March 12, '07...I was ready and knew 110% that it was the right choice for me.  I have never looked back with regret..other than my wish to have done it all sooner.
You will know when or if it is the answer for you.  This is a journey to not be taken lightly.  Search your soul and heart, then follow it.  I can only speak for myself...I have never been happier, healthier and at peace.
Thank you for your kind words and I wish you luck on which ever journey you decide to take.
Hugs,
Lora

All I can say is WOW!!!  Four months to recover. Amazing!  You are so brave to do it this way, but now it's behind you instead of doing it in bits and pieces. Good for you, my dear!

So happy to have you back home on OFF. We've missed you!

Take care.  Sending gentle hugs your way

Susan

Good morning Susan!
So nice to receive your sweet message.  Yes, 4 months is long, but it wasn't awful everyday.  Early on, I was so drugged, I felt nothing until it was time for another dose of oxycodone-LOL!  Some of the pain actually was mixed with emotional pain, because I felt so helpless.  But, looking back, the 4 months has really gone by quicker than I expected and I only have the future (and better weather) to look forward to!
I tend to be an all or nothing person, so the Total Body Lift was custom-made for me.  Not sure if I would have gone through with much had I done it "a la carte."  Plus, even though it was a huge expense, it would have cost more in separate procedures because of the hospital and anesthesia bills.
Thanks for the gentle hugs and here's some right back to ya...
