Happy Saturday-what's new?

Hi Karen,
My Mom has a reverse mortgage and it has a lot of fees if I remember correctly, but she loves it. The fees just reduce the final inheritance I believe. My Mom can live in the house for as long as she is able. She is 84 and going strong so far. She has some sort of in home care insurance policy so she is hoping that she can stay in the house for the rest of her life. She got the reverse mortgage when housing prices were much higher- so that was an advantage I think. In Hawaii I'm sure your home values don't go down much anyway. I was not thrilled with my mom getting it when she did because of her reasoning- she didn't need the money to live- she needed it to go gambling at the Indian Casinos. But I guess if that is what makes her happy I will just be happy for her.

Thank you Julia.......I want to wait until I'm much older because I know the payout is greater the older you get, but unless I find some income somewhere, I might have to do it before I would like to.

I think I would have been unhappy too if my mother was taking out a reverse mortgage in order to gamble!! Yikes..........that's a big price to pay for you children!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good Morning Margo and All,
We have a beautiful 70* day here in CA. My daffodils are blooming and the fruit trees are full of either blossoms or new green leaves. I have no plans for today. Tomorrow we are going to a city "event" called a gourmet sampler. It's a charity event where the restaurants and breweries bring lots of food and drink to sample. I will be eating much less than I will have paid for, but I'm fine with that. It's a fun few hours and you see lots of people that you know but may not see too often. I'm quite social so I enjoy that. We are still cleaning out the garage- we had cabinets installed and I had to clean them - now I'm starting to organize and fill them up. Happy Saturday!

Good morning, Margo and my other OFF family. It is morning but with about 10 minuets to spare.

I have been sitting around the house doing not much of anything. I read the paper and watched television and then thought that I should get on here and converse with my other family. It is rainy and dreary here and kind of cool compared to what we had for the last few days. It is 46* and just icky looking. That must be the reason no one is doing much here today.

I was hoping to rearrange the living room today but I think that is going to wait for another week end. I just don't feel like doing it and I know that Bill doesn't either. So much for that idea today. Now I have to find another thing to do to replace it. I think it might be watch television and read a book. See.....I am changing one chore for 2. I think that is a winning thing. At least it is for me.

I would like to go to Wal Mart but that might wait until later on. I do have to go to the grocery store and get a few things. Nothing much but there are some things that I need to get and others that I would like to price promise at Wal Mart. I would much rather go to Wal Mart and price promise than chase all around from one store to another. I figure if Wal Mart doesn't have it then I don't need it. Most of the time they have everything I need anyway.

So as you can tell today is pretty much up in the air. I like days like that for the most part. I hope that every ones day is good and they do just what they want to along with the things that need to be done. I am sending love and hugs to all along with prayers and special thoughts for everyone too. Don't forget to smile since it helps every ones life. The giver and the receiver.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Margo and my OFF family:

It's rainy and dreary and damp today. Well, it's back to winter. We had two very nice days, so I can't complain too much.

I have no big plans for the weekend. I'm taking a couple of gas holidays ... not going anywhere. No money, so I'm staying home. Actually, I have $20 on me but I need that for gas next week. It will about fill up my tank (actually less) to get me up and back to work for the week.

We had a quiet night at work, then I got home after midnight and Carla had called, so after giving the kitties their treats and petting them, getting into my jammies, I called her back to chat with her. Then I watched a little TV. I was going to go to bed early, but I wasn't tired, so I stayed up a little later and watched "Friday Night Lights" before going to bed. Then did my exercises in bed and tried to read but then I got really drowsy. Slept really well, got up once to pee, then slept til 11. It helped that it was so dreary out. I'm just now having my first cup of coffee.

I need to get on my bike and exercise. Yesterday I did 33 minutes while on the phone with Brenda ... I need to find someone else to talk to ... anyone up for a chat? Seems I exercise better when I'm talking. Don't realize how long I've gone.

Otherwise, I need to clean litter boxes and do other things around the house. It's going to be a lazy couple of days. I need to rest and recuperate for the week. Keep the legs elevated, ya know. They're a little swollen, but not as much as the past few weeks ... only about four pounds of fluid this week. So that's good.

Well, I guess I should get on the bike and get going. Have a good day.
