Repost : To All That Have Had Plastic Surgery
I would like to know if following your PS , you were instructed by the surgeon or your PcP to gently massage the area of your incisions?.. considering PS for myself , my arms are in need of it.
I was instructed to massage my right groin where the heart surgeon put in 7 stents in me over a period of 18 months, (yes i have 7 stents) .... It breaks up the scar tissue ,, a few minutes a day ..it does so much for recovery.....I had scar tissue the size of a football..I was limping for quite some time after my heart surgeries...After a few months the scar tissue was dissolving, and my limping stopped..anyway, just wondering if you were told to do the same with PS aftercare..thanks ...............Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I had a lower body lift in August of 2007. My doctor knows I tend to pick at scabs, scars etc, so I was given firm orders of "hands off." Now since I am finally totalled healed I massage the areas. I did that after having my knees replaced also and over time it does help. I think it helps the nerves that were cut also.
I form scar tissue easily. I think that is part of my "picking" problem. If there's a bump there I can't leave it alone. I finally found some waterproof bandages that were just about impossible to peel off. They would stay on long enough for healing to take place. I don't think I'll do my arms, but my thighs. . . .they are really bad. But it's so expensive. Best wishes.
