my home made high protein, high fibre soup recipe

I was asked for my soup recipe so here it is:

large pot of homemade soup stock or water

one pound of lean ground beef, chicken, turkey or veal

2 cloves of fresh garlic, chopped

one cup of dried vegetable flakes *

one cup of pearl or pot barley *

one cup of dried mixed beans *

one cup EACH of diced onion and celery

sea salt, fresh-ground black pepper, summer savoury

OPTIONAL: canned/frozen tomatoes-crushed

* bought at the Bulk Barn(bulk food retail store)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. hea****er and broth in large pot

2. add ground meat using                                            a potato masher to break it up as it cooks

3. add other ingredients

4. bring to a boil

5. turn down to simmer for several hours til beans are soft.

Flavours blend even better after the first day.  Enjoy. This soup give extra protein and fibre. Easily re-heated in the microwave.

sounds yum nancy! thx! and easy enough! michael is our soup maker and has a wonderful pot of vegetable stew type thing in teh garage right now- it'll probly be frozen tho it's so cold out there! this batch was to replicate his potato bisque and it ddn't come close but still very yummo! he uses bacon with it so not as lean as yours!!! it did hit the spot last nite tho!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
