What we are eating and what's eating Us -SUNDAY!
Hello, everyone!
I've been sitting here for hours, researching spiritual and emotional healing, colour and art therapy and also studying a few other aspects of that. I seem to have such a lust for knowledge, that I get lost in my research and suddenly realize that the sun is about to rise.
Last night, I made a huge crockpot of chili. Unfortunately, I forgot that the dried beans actually EXPAND when cooking...oops! So there I was, at slightly after midnight, on my hands and knees (very carefully with these old damaged knees, I must confess), washing the kitchen counter and the kitchen floor. Yes indeed, my crockpot runneth over. Apparently, cats and kittens like chili/baked bean juice. I think it was the blackstrap molasses that I used. There were sticky little trails of *****cat paws...egad!
JB says that he won't be eating anything "with moles' asses in it"...and Derek said that "moles' asses are okay as long as they showered first, after all, it IS protein"...
*rolls my eyes*...see what kind of warped humour that I have to live with???
Ah well, this weekend, I am "nesting"...too darned cold outside for my old bones. I also made a big pot of beef & barley soup. Both covered pots are now chilling out in my enclosed breezeway.
Today I plan to bake a bit..I have Mother's old recipe of what we, as kids, always called "Dutch bread", much to the amusement of my Amsterdam'er Dutch hubby...it's more of a "honey cake-bread" with lots of cloves, honey and cinnamon. I will use Splenda brown sugar and limit my tasting. Mom will enjoy that...I always bring her "care packages"..she will love the Dutch bread and the soup..apparently she can do w/o the beans...LOL.
This is what Rufus is getting for Sunday:
B Matrix hot choclate protein drink
S cheese & crackers
L homemade beef & barley soup (see my recipe that I posted earlier)
S a slice or two of extra-lean turkey kolbassa and some old cheddar
D home made chili
S fruit
and that's my plan and I'm stickin' to it! Have a great day, family!
