Question about calcium
I can't find my calcium chews anymore. I always used Citracal soft chews. I bought a supply because they were hard to find and now I am almost out and can't find them anywhere. I can find Viactiv but they contain Vitamin K and with my blood clot I can't take them. I can find one made by Nature something but they are Calcium Carbonate. Does anyone know if there is a calcium soft chew out there without Vitamin K that are Calcium Citrate. If not, what chewable taste good.
My personal stash of Citrical Creamy Bites is almost gone and I know thay aren't being made anymore. They sold the Citracal name to Bayer and Bayer chose not to make the Creamy Bites, just to spite me, I think.
So, I was excited to see that Walgreens might be able to help me out. Alas, the chewy calcium they offer is calcium CARBONATE and therefore usless to us. Walmart only offers three kinds of calcium citrate, all the big tablets.
Sigh.

I get my multi vitamins from Bariatrics Advantage. I believe their site said in the next month or so they would have the chewable calcium citrates. Not sure if they have Vitamin K in them. I am using calcium citrate + vitamin D. They are big capsules. Two years ago I could not handle them but now I'm able to swallow them. Sometimes I break them in 1/2 first; sometimes not. I know they would probably absorb better if I would chew them but just can't go there with that chalky taste. Good luck, Linda. Maintaining the proper supplements is so important for us. We just have to find a way to do it.

As a RNY patient, I was told that we only really absorb the Cittracal plus D calcium ,,,,I have been taking it, 4 tablets a day , 2 in am and 2 at night for 5 years any my levels are great. Dont take them with a multi vit or iron though as they work against it ,,,Take at least 2-3 hours apart I was told by Dr.
I was told the same thing about taking the calcium. It seems it interferes with the absorption of iron. I take my multi in the am and one calcium at noon and one in the evening. I don't have iron in my multi. but tracking my food on fitday.com and filling in the nutrient info I find that I have way more iron than the RDA just from my food.. I just want by great tasting chews back .
