OMGosh ... what a roller coaster ride I have been on since early December when I started on these Iron Horse Pills (Repliva)!!! I had set a goal of 150 by Christmas day. Not a lot or so I thought! Unfortunately I was found to be anemic and was RXd REPLIVA iron supplement. Well, it is very constipating and I have never had real issues with THAT. Just a couple times after surgery but benefiber fixed me right up. Well this time it was different. I shot up 7 pounds almost immediately and thought I was retaining fluid. With Repliva you take the actual iron pills for 21 straight days then you take 7 days of the "absorption pills" then start the cycle all over again. I rode the crazy roller coaster and Christmas Day came and went and I did not hit 150. So I moved it to New Years Day ... again no change. My 8 month surgerversary would be 1/13 so I thought surely another 2 weeks I will hit it!!!! NOPE! So I finally said the heck with it and figured if it was meant to happen it would happen! This morning when I got up (7:30 am) I weighed 151 ... YAY! I went downstairs and decided I wanted to change things up some today and found some sf carnation instant breakfast (yuck) in the back of the cupboard. I mixed up a cup and threw in some nasty tasting chocolate protein powder. Bear in mind, each of these on their own is a gross out for me but together they are MEGA NASSSSSSSTY! I no sooner got half the cup down and my belly took off growling and churning! I raced to the toilet!!!!!!!! Well, no benefiber for me now ... lol. I went about making some coffee etc and decided to go up and shower. I stepped on the scale just for the heck of it and it said 150!!!!!!! I crapped out a pound???????? OMG!!! Maybe I better drink this "slop" every morning? ROFLMAO<br />

Thanks Judy gril! Lets BOOGIE DOWN BABY! LOL

I finally got my recumbent exercise bike put together ... puff puff! My son helped me on Thanksgiving Day to slide the 2 heaviest parts together and said he would be back to fini**** up ... he popped in Christmas Day while I was out of town!!! and grabbed his presents and food and split. Haven't seen him since. This thing has been sitting in the basement since August unassembled! I needed it ready to use by mid-October! Well I finally decided to just get it done myself! It took a couple days but I got it done! I tested it out and OMG! My legs are killing me ... so I guess it is going to work? YAY! I am going to have to use it many times a day for short periods until I can get my endurance up. Then I will use it 3-4 times a day 45 mins/each time which is what I walked in warm weather. I sure busted up my knuckles and broke most of my nails but it is D O N E!

Hey Jean ... which variety of slimfast do you get? I thought about getting some but wasn't sure which one is OK for us?

Thanks for the chuckle also I should have asked for your secret weapon 2 months ago! ROFL

I am using Slim Fast Optima..180 Cal 10 gr protein 5 fiber. there are 18 grams of sugar in it, which in the past has made me stay away from it. But I just gag on protein drinks so I figured if I can stand this one( and I actually like the cappuccino delight one) it is better than a muffin . And I DO find that it keeps me full for a very long time, I usually eat lunch because I should not because I am hungry..

Thanks so much for the laugh for the day. I read your post and thought "She is just another me......oh my.". My wls pa took me off the iron because of the constipation problem. It was horrendous! The keep real close watch on my iron levels and so far so good. Nothing to worry about.

I use the slim fast too, and the one I use is the low carb in the chocolate. I am not a big fan of vanilla so I never tried that one. I think the low carb only comes in those 2 varieties. The other ones have to much sugar in them. There is 20 grams of protein in a can and I can tolerate them much much better than the protein drinks. Oh dear....how low can you go with those? I tried the Achieve Ones at Eileen's and liked them really well. I am going to look into trying to find them around here or something.

Congratulations on reaching your goal~and yes it is better late than never at all. I found that the goal may have a good time but it is going to happen when it happens and nothing (most of the time) is going to change that fact. You are doing great and those 5 pounds are going to be gone in no time as long as you keep drinking the yukky stuff!! LOL

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Brenda dear ... I am glad I gave you your laugh for the day Hey we need to laugh about this stuff! Right? haha

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the iron also. I am hoping I will get straightened around with the iron levels so I can quit taking these darn huge horse pills!!!

I think I will give the low carb slim fast a try? These protein powders taste sooooo nasty. Barix Cookies 'N Cream is good though (but expensive). All of their products are expensive.

I could only wish protein drinks would help me.  lol     We are about at the same place weight wise I was 151 before christmas then learned the hard way that I don't dump on sugar.   So I have not excuse but stupidity that I went up a few pounds.    I wanted to be at goal by now.     I'm bad about weighing more than once everyday.
I know you must be so excited to hit your goal!   Congrats!

PS  I like the adkins advantage shakes.

I don't dump on sugar either! But I behaved over the holidays!!! Just licked the spoon when I made my son PB Fudge. It was the constipation issue from the iron obviously? I am going to have this yucko shake combo every other day from now on! lol

Hang in there with me! How much more do you want to lose? I definitely would like to lose the remaining 5 pounds for sure but I may revise it another 5-10 pounds? Not sure yet. People think I look too skinny where I am!
