Good luck with your WLS. The center I went to gave me full instructions what to take.

Hi and good luck!!

As for vitamins...every surgeon is different on what they feel is the best choice. Yours will let you know.

My surgeon recomends "Flinestones Complete" chewables. My counts are always good so I must be doing something right. I take two every day.

Hugs....connie d

I was on Bugs Bunny sf chewables (started 2 weeks before surgery) and stayed on those until 6 month followup. I fully expected to go to RX pre-natal vitamins but ended up on Centrum complete. I also take 1000 mg subliminal B12, vitamin C, viactive calcium chews, and since I am anemic I am on RX'd iron horse pills (Repliva). The hardest for me is the vitamin C.

When I went for pre-admission testing (PATs) 2 weeks before surgery, I was given full instructions in writing. When I was released from the hospital after surgery I was given additional instructions. Since I went to Barix Clinics I was given a book (referred to as the Barix Bible) along with direct dial numbers for my nutrionist etc.

You will get complete instructions from your doctor or a member of his staff before you leave the hospital if not before.  I used children's chewables for awhile.  Was glad to get off them because I didn't like the taste.  I now take a Centrum silver chewable and a B12 sublingual 1000mg daily, and a 500 mg calcium chew twice a day.  All this can be very confusing until you get into a routine.  I really appreciated this site once I found it.  I was about 6 months out and had little information about what I should be doing and how to do it.  I found such knowledgeable people on this forum.  I always check with my doctor but I swear the surgeons aren't as well versed as the folks here on many issues, especially nutrition.  Good luck to you.
