Sorry folks, but it is Monday. WHAT'S NEW WITH YOU?

Sorry y'all, but the weekend is over.  Back to work.

Had a decent weekend.  Did some cooking that came out real good.  First I made the steak in the crockpot.  Then, I cooked a chicken breast in the oven, smothered in Pizza Sauce, added mozarella cheese.  Excellent.

Then I made Turkey/Venison meatballs. I had 1.5 lbs of ground turkey and about 3/4 lb of venison.  Added 1 cup of applesauce, worsty sauce, garlic, onions, bbq sauce, bread crumbs.  Mixed together well.  Scooped out using melon baller.  Voila.  Baked for 30 minutes at 350.

Today I go see my PCP.  Just a followup after my release from the hospital.  I will post tonight if there is anything newsworthy.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hello George!

Well, all of that sounds great! I may contact you for ideas when I get to the solid food stage! Do you think the meatballs would turn out if I use only turkey? We do not have any hunter friends.

My surgery is a week from tomorrow. I can hardly believe it!!!

Most definitely. I normally make them with just turkey, but my son shot a deer, hence I have venison in the house.

The meatballs taste great hot or cold.  I just pop them as snacks sometimes.

Good morning George, Joyce and everyone.

I could have slept in a little this morning but NO my internal alarm clock got me up a little before 6.  I leave today to attend a retreat for a couple of days so I am not going into the office.  This is an annual job related retreat and a chance to see old friends, learn a bit, and get a little rest.  I will be back on Wednesday.  I will be careful with my eating and there are lots of stairs there (also an elevator) but I am going to take advantage of the stairs to get some exercise.  Still too cold for me to go outside and walk.

Hope you all have a great day.

Interesting to see applesauce as an ingredient George. I have been using ground turkey in all sorts of dishes. Can't let hubby see that though or he won't eat it. Says he doesn't LIKE ground turkey. Could have fooled me, he gobbles it down as long as he doesn't know..

In two hours the work crew arrives to start the new furnace and weatherization process. I detest renovations. The upheaval, the mess, the noise, shucks .. it invades my quiet little world. But we NEED heat and ho****er and the old furnace is very tired. Tom will be here to supervise, so I may spend the day out of the house. Shop til I drop?

Kisses

I had never heard of it either, but my wife was reading something and saw that recommendation.  Turkey meat is dryer than beef, so the applesauce gives it some moisture.  Before yesterday, I would just add one egg per pound.

It is a good idea. Shhh ... my next batch of meatballs will have applesauce instead of eggs. Tom won't know the difference. Thanks

I am going to use the applesauce here too. I won't tell Tom if you don't tell Bill. He wouldn't like it either if he knew. He is another one that won't eat things if he knows what is in there. He doesn't like sour cream. But he loves dips......so what does it tell you? He swears that there is no sour cream in dip. Alright....what ever you say.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Mum's the word Brenda. Tom is the same with sour cream but eats dip. His list of "won't eat that" is long.

I don't want to sounds sexist but ...

MEN !!!!!!!!!

Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em. gotta love 'em.

Ya know, when I bring in my breads and muffins made out of my gastric bypass cookbook, I never tell anyone what I put in them. They all have applesauce in them instead of oil, they all have protein powder and Splenda ... everyone raves about them. Some people say they won't have them because they're dieting ... I tell them these are good for you treats and they try them, then I tell them what's in them.

Sometimes the less known, the better ...

Now my brothers, they like to try different things ... Ed eats bison instead of beef because it's lower in cholesterol; Gary eats ground turkey all the time and doesn't think anything of it (he's given me some good recipes for it). But then my brothers were raised by my dad, who was really a good cook and tried lots of different things in his recipes. I've always said I single because I'm waiting to find someone like my dad who can cook and clean for me ... I only know two other guys like that, and they're my brothers.
