What's New Sunday?
Morning Annette and all,
Annette hope Tom is eating the good stuff you are providing....
Hope your heart is feeling better too {{{{HUG}}}}}
Well, I woke up, saw the clock, and thought "Oh, crap! I'm an hour late! Rushed downstairs, let the dog out, thinking well, I won't get to post on OH, won't get to do the treadmill, just have a quick cup of coffee...." this lasted several min. After I let the dog out I realized. "OH!!! it's Sunday! YAY!!! I still have one day off." What a relief and fun moment to realize I don't have to go to work till tomorrow!
I usually wake up at 4-4:30am, so the bonus besides no work today is I slept in an hour!
I just finished a really good book, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. It was good. I won't say more, I want to but don't want to spoil it for anyone. I also just finished The Road. By the guy that wrote No Country for Old Men. A bit depressing but good too. My favorite book is Time Travelers Wife. I have read it 2x and listened to it on tape. I also read Pillars of the Earth. Liked it too. Will go get the sequel, maybe today. At work, no matter what, I take a lunch and read. I have gone through lots of books. Right now I have to read in the break room, which I hate. People talking on cells ( a whole nother post to gripe about) talking and laughing really loud. When the weather gets nice I go outside and eat by myself. I brought ear plugs last Friday but couldn't get them in right. I can eat at my desk but even when I have my lunch in front of me and a book in my face people come in and want me to do stuff, so now I just go elsewhere.
Well, I better shut up...see, you either don't see me post or when I do...well, you see what happens...
Have a lovely day all,
Cheryl

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo, One of my best friends from high school used to type and go on research trips with Debbie Macomber. Kathey, my friend, worked for 2 Washington authors when she lived on one of the islands in the San Juans here in Washington. She got to go on a Scotland research trip with one of them. My dream job. . . that and working on Antique Roadshow!

Ahhhhhhhhh - the wonders of getting lost in a good book. I don't read for pleasure during the semester because I know that I will read a book I love over marking assignments any day!
I tell my students who are interested in increasing their vocabulary and improving their writing skills to find a good book. Some of them, and they are college students, have never read a book from cover to cover. I know that some are learning disabled and reading is much more difficult for them, but there are others who have been playing video games all their lives and have never learned the joy of finding a book to become immersed in. That is a shame.
My father read to me every night as I lay in bed when I was a child - Treasure Island, Black Beauty, etc. The first book that I read that I absolutely adored was Anne of Green Gables. Beautiful story!
