Police action!
Hi everybody!
I stopped at the grocery on my way home yesterday. Left the grocery heading home and found most entrances to the subdivision were blocked with police cars, several police on foot, and a couple of police dogs. OK, my first night home alone and I come home to this. Managed to maneuver my way around the back of the subdivision to get home. Three police officers and a dog were at the corner near my house. Unloaded the few bags of groceries. Called my neighbor at work to see if she'd heard what was going on. She's a great neighbor, mid 40s, single, we call her the town crier. She knows everything happening in the area, and if she doesn't, she knows how to find out. She made a couple of calls and called me back. A guy was burglarizing an apartment complex, the police got the call, pursued him into our area, he jumped out of his car a half block from my house and jumped several 6 foot fences trying to get away. He was caught!!! YEAH! I can't say I was scared or rattled, just concerned. I actually slept better than I thought I would last night. Didn't even take anything! Our young good looking neighbor was outside wondering as I was about what was going on with the police - before the town crier informed us. I mentioned to him that I was mildly concerned since I was home alone. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm happily married and so is he - with two kids and a really nice wife, besides, he could be my son. He asked if I still had his # and to call if I got scared during the night. Thank God I have such good neighbors!
George called to let me know he'd arrived safely and had already shot a deer. He called again tonight and shot another one. Oh boy deer steaks, deer roasts, deer stew, deer sausage! Good healthy protein! He'll be home tomorrow. We'll pack up and head to our daughter's house Sat. to celebrate Gabe's b'day. He turned 7 on the 13th.
I did something today I seldom do. I stayed home sick! Started with nose bleed Tues. afternoon. Wouldn't mention it to George 'cause I didn't want him to miss his deer hunting trip. Nose bleeds continued all day yesterday with headache. I actually felt better today, but needed a day away from the looney bin!
My older son is taking very good care of me in his dad's absence. He's my nervous nellie. He's called at least 8 times since yesterday to check on me, and will stop by tonight after work.
We're expecting a freeze tonight. Been cold all day!
Time to stop rambling and find dinner!

Jeane, my blood pressure has been on the low side for over three years ranging from 100/48 to 110/60. The neurologist wants 100 or below. He is almost insistent that I take a low dose bp medicine. I told him he'd have stroked out if he'd been treating me when it was 180/110 - 200/110. I took my bp twice yesterday and once this morning. 152/58, 154/60, and this afternoon 146/ 48. I think it was up because of the headache.
My son stopped by, had dinner with me, we talked for a while, then he went home. My neighbor came out to see if everything was OK when my son was leaving. Six households on our block have participated in giving their emergency contacts, cell #s, and/or work #s. We've got out-of-state contacts for each other in case we are ever separated again by another hurricane. I've typed all the info in the computer and made copies for all concerned. We double check the info just before the start of hurricane season. It was a long frightening time after Katrina trying to find each other and we will NOT go through that again.

Good early morning, Debbie:
So glad you have all the wonderful support! Take care! And I hope that the nose bleed problem is over for this time. I was told that if my blood pressure top number stayed over 150 for several hours, I should go to the ER. But that is me, and has been controlled by medicine for awhile. The Dr. just took me off the medicine since I have started loosing weight and it is pretty much staying in the 90's on top. Just please be safe!!

Thanks Vera, my neurologist can't find a reason for the nose bleeds. His advise was to get to an ENT as soon as one occurs. Like that's going to happen. There's at least a six-week wait for ENT appointments. He then advised go to the ER. Yeah, right, they'd laugh me out the door. They seem to come randomly every 3 months or so. I think I've discovered a pattern. I'll have a light headed feeling, sort of dizzy for a day or two followed soon by several nose bleeds within a day or two, then comes a severe headache. This time I had a 5 month stretch with no nose bleeds. They started about 3 years ago. Prior to that, I had NEVER had a nose bleed in my life.

Murphy's Law ......
This is too funny... ( ironic )... Sure is nice to know you are well taken care of by your son and the neighbors.....
Curious.... Your state allows two deer kills? I just had a venison roast cut up for jerky. Came home with the curing salt tonight and will add to the marinade then dry it in a day or two.
Hope your nose bleed settles down for you too. Not fun, for sure.
Take care and enjoy your time.
