morning george and OFF family!!!

george its cool your grandson is in the spelling bee!! i used to be a good speller in grade school and was captain often...meaning i got to pick who would be on my team...see i used to be the kid nobody wanted on their team when it came to games because i was to fat to play well...soooo i became a good speller and when it was time to choose who was on the team...well guess who paid them back by letting them wait til the near end to be chosen....yup me!!! i know it wasn't nice but then they weren't nice to me either...then high school came along and i slimmed down to a size 10 weight was 145. i was accepted then...to late...i had my friends that liked me even if i was fat...anyhow enough of me....hope he gets to win this bee!!! and i know some of those words are hard to pronounce let alone spell!!!! also have fun at your luncheon!!!

nancy i got a chill just reading about your cold weather there!!!! hope you will be ok along with many others in that freezing area!!!!!

well last night i started training the new woman to take over for us in breaks and lunches. she informed me she didn't want to work nights or weekends. wants mornings...well that ain't gonna happen sweetie...I WANT AM SHIFT AND NO WEEKENDS!!! so back to the drawing boards...sighs...got next weeks schedule and i have a couple more nights closing...GRRRRR and yes weekend also!!! GRRRR so much for asking to get off some weekends!!!! sighs...

got home from work last night to find rick sick...seems he used way to much pine sol to clean the kitchen floor...i could smell it all the way down by the front door!!! i turned on the exhaust fan in bathroom and over  the stove in kitchen and that helped get some of it out...it sure was strong smelling in here thats for sure!!!! told him to use only a small amount not half a bottle!!!! he said he wouldn't use it again....lol

weather here is cold but not like nancys cold!!! its 6 abouve and wind chill of -6 BRRRR they said we could see 2-4 inches of snow again today and more tonight into tomorrow...great just great!!! like we have place for more snow...main door (security) doesn't even close tight because of the snow/ice build up....this place really takes care of things good.

talked to my sister yesterday and she was telling me about gary...he is back to staying in bed all the time and is wetting the bed now. doesn't want to get up to go to the bathroom...says the nurse should get him up to go. so he is now wearing depends all the time. also doesn't want to get up to go eat his meals. seems depression ha**** him once again. wonder if this quack dr has him off the meds that were helping him. its a sad situation thats for sure. thought this surgery was going to help him but i guess not. still no word on the gamma knife surgery when that will happen. he did say to tell you all thankyou for the prayers and to keep them coming. i know he reads many times a day the 23rd psalm. said it makes him feel good.

well better get going here and get some stuff done around here. only have enough quarters for one load of clothes to wash and dry. need to wait til rick comes home so i can wash his dirty work clothes. might as well do a full load. so stay warm and if you have to much warm send it to us that are cold!!! LOL

be good!!!

Hiya George & OFFr's!

Sounds like you got a pretty good spella there ;). . .  Hope he makes it on the next level!  And now that the NY Jets have been out of the game, it's on to baseball season, less than 30 days before catchers and pitchers report (at least that's what my guy tells me) ;)  I'll be looking forward to baseball and maybe this year my team can make me proud.

Well I am here at my work station, reading all about you guys and the perils of mates that have food issues, I, too, have a boyfriend who likes to eat and seeing as we don't live together, I can't portion control him and even if we did, I probably couldn't and it's funny because he has known me since I was a bigger gal and he is very supportive of me and my path, even reminds me to slow down when I'm busy yapping and eating (lol), and he'll tell me he's got to do something, but. . .  I just hope that he doesn't push the envelope to where he has a fatal heart attack, as that is what happened with his dad, and he is such a typical type A personality, Italian macho man (lol), but he is so special to me and treats me very well.

The rest of the day should be easy and I am off work tomorrow for a DDS appointment to get a cleaning and have an impression made for the next stage of my implant, then I might actually have a little time to goof off and do something other than race around and be stressed out by the construction going on in my house.

I won't even discuss the weather, because we are all feeling some of it's effects, but I did join Facebook yesterday and it seems to be a lot of fun, though I'm still trying to figure it all out, most of the people I am friends with from the PA board are on there, though, there are a few people from here there as well, and my local support group, some of my friends and kids too, it's a nice social atmosphere and has the ability to set privacy settings so that only those who you would want to, can visit your page there.

Have a great day and if you are facing challenges, please know I care and am sending out positive thoughts and prayers for you,

Hugs, Laureen

Good morning to all you OFFers!

Don't know if I bragged about my grandson.  Took first place in his school spelling bee.  Now he goes to citywide spelling bee.  And I think after that is national.  I am not sure, but we heard there will be 275 people at national this year, so it is not one per state.  Just want to see him do good, does not matter if he wins.  (Sure would be nice though)

Ready for baseball season.  Tuesday I will be at a luncheon that will have about 100 people invited to hear Nolan Ryan speak about the Rangers.  Free meal too (season ticket holder thing).

Have a great day!
Good Morning George and OFF family.. So you think you are cold? This morning it is minus 37 degrees here (actual temp) and I just heard on the radio that it is minus 44 in Bismarck. I am sooooo tired of this.  But wait.....in just 3 days it is predicted to be 40 above here!!  UNREAL!!  Nothing we can do about it so might as well just stay in if we can and wait it out.  I have a local Doctor's appt tomorrow for medication adjustment so may just do some grocery shopping and other errands while I am out.
I hope everyone else is staying warm and safe.

Hey George and my OFF family:

I'm on sick leave, George, and I go to bed early (although last night I got engrossed in my book and didn't go to sleep until 1 ... I was in bed, though ... I go to bed at 8 and watch TV and red.)

I'm ready for baseball season, too ... if you're going to see Nolan Ryan, get his autograph for me, George, if you can. He's one of my favorite players, even if he did pummel Robin Ventura (one of the funniest baseball fights of all time!). Robin must have regretted that incident as soon as he went out to the mound. I still chuckle about it.

It's snowing here. I was hoping to go to the store today, but I'm not driving out in the snow. We are at 11 degrees, -3 wind chill and snowing ... the sun sneaks out occasionally ... so we're not as bad as the Dakotas. Of course, I used to live in Aberdeen, S.D., so I know how bad the Dakotas can be!

Congrats on your son winning the spelling bee. I am, of course, a good speller, although I have never participated in a bee ... we didn't have them when I was growing up. Don't know if I could compete with these kids ... some of those words are really hard!

Annette, I can sympathize with you on Tom's eating habits. My brother Gary every week says he's going on his diet ... then he proceeds to buy a pizza and eats half of it. I tell him what he should do is cut the pizza up, take two pieces and freeze the rest (which is what I do when I order out) ... but he says he's hungry and wants to eat more. I told him if he wants more, to make a salad. I can't make him diet ... I know I can't nag him because I was nagged by my mom for years and it didn't work for me. In fact, it made me go the other way and made me fatter. The more she nagged, the more I ate. So I just listen to my brother and try to give him advice about sensible portions and hope he listens. I know a lot of his eating is emotional too ... he is lonely since his divorce; he doesn't make friends easily (not like me) and he sits at home by himself and eats. Plus, his back hurts and he can't do a lot, so he eats because he's in pain (sound familiar? It's me all over again!) So, Annette, all I can say is don't nag ... just be supportive. Because I hated being nagged. Tom must make this decision by himself. You can bring the healthy food into the house and make sure he gets the right portions. But if you nag him, it's just going to turn him the other way.

Well, if it stops snowing, I might go out this afternoon and stop at the chiropractor and then to Walgreens and get my vicodin prescription (I'm almost out). We'll see. Not driving in the snow, though.

Have a good day. Stay warm and safe if you're up north in the freezer.

Good Morning everyone

Well I guess I'll do most of what I was supposed to do yesterday today since I found my keys.  It embarrassing to admit how and where.  I finally gave up and figured I run across them eventually.  A friend is going home to visit her mom in Tiawan today so last night we took her out to dinner.  As I got to the foyer where we keep our shoes ( don't wear them in the house)  I got a memory flash of doing the same in the AM.  I was supposed to go to the gym which meant wearing my tennis shoes and not my loafers.  Since I have to lace up my Tennis shoes I took them into the dinning room where there is a couch I could sit on.  I set them beside me on the couch while I tied my shoes.  Talk about short term memory loss.  After I tied my shoes I went to the hook to get my keys.  In that short a time I forgot that I had already gotten the keys.  When they were not on the hook I drew a blank.  Well after I remembered sitting to tie my shoes I went to the couch and there they were.  I had glanced in that room looking for them but they were in shadow and blended in with the black leather.  I can't believe I missed my body gem test and have to fast all over again this morning just because I had to lace up my shoes.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln how did you like the play?

Good Morning from another below zero place, very cold. but I was rushing so fast I hardly noticed it. We have 2 interviews for a new nurse this morning and I  just couldn't be late, got here and found out our first interview couldn't get her car started, it is almost time for the second one and she still isn't here. Liz called this morning, all upset ,she was suppose to have the first stress test on the baby today but her car won't start. I am blessed that mine did but it made a groaning sound all the way to work, then when I got out there was a terrible burning rubber smell. I sure hope it is ok.Liz's B-day is the 24th and I promised her I would make curtians for her kitchen, she has 3 windows, I got 9 yards of material, hope that's enough.
I had Son and grands over for taco soup last night, made corn bread and a peach pie. They loved it, pickey eater, 6 yr old Zach, had 3 bowls. I sent home left over  corn bread and pie with them,, so no carbs to talk to me.
I really crave crunchy foods at night I got a dish of baby carrots to munch on, worked pretty good but this morning I felt like they were still sitting in my stomach, and I kept tasting them..
Well I got interrupted to do interviews, we have 2 really good prospects..yippee Time for me to leave .Ciao

Good afternoon George and all OFF!
I'm still home and will be until Monday.  Technically I do feel better.  the mouth isn't as sore all the time as it was, eating still has some issues but soft easily chewed foods are good.  Thankfully I love soup and when I make a good protein rich soup I freeze extras, so have lots of soup in the freezer.  Cottage cheese is another staple so that's here too.
I'm still pretty tired and like any virus, headachy, body aches things like that.  My dogs and cats are glad to have me here to bow to their every wish.  I just came back from the store and Rite Aid, needed some vitamins and yogurt.  I used to have a yogurt maker, may get another one one of these days.  It was pretty good.
I haven't been doing much, resting, drinking, pill popping, reading and knitting.  Boring life when you are sick eh?
Hope all is well with you all.  Take care!

Congratulations to your Grandson!

I just got off my treadmill, I'm having to build up to it so 5 min at a time is all I can do now but it's better than nothing, right? Yesterday was my first day in the gym with a trainer. I've never had one before and I admit Rod is worth every penny! All the years I spent starting over in the gym, I was doing everything wrong...bad positions on the machines, no cardio, etc. So I'm really learning alot. After the workout he put me through I'm surprised I'm not more sore than I am but I guess that could be a result of doing it right.

My Dr.s appt got postponed until Monday so I have to wait, again, to see what kionf of diet he wants me on for the next 6 months. Until then I'm following WW so I don't pig out on all those "I'll never eat this again" meals!  LOL!

Other than that I'm doing OK, just wanting to get this show on the road!!!

Hello all!

I am getting to post but it is almost 5PM so most everyone else is already come and gone.

I had to get a new water pump and thermostat for my car today which was over $300.  I just hope there are no more repairs for awhile.

I have a meeting tonight about finances which is not my favorite subject.  Would much rather stay home and keep warm.

I hope all of you are snug as a bug in a rug!
