Update on Karl

Hello OH family,

Dropping in to tell you how my sweetie has done since surgery.  He is 2 months out and has lost about 65 pounds.  It’s hard to tell exactly since he hasn't seen his surgeon for 4 weeks. Before he went for his follow-up visit he was too heavy to weigh on our home scales.  Now he can but we don't know how they compare with the Surgeon's scales.  So.... we'll wait until he goes back to coordinate the two.  He has lost 3 pant's sizes and although the pounds are slowing down the inches are still melting away. I'm so proud of him.  He's doing a great job of following the rules even though this is a very stressful time.

Karl is a software engineer and has worked for Texas Instruments for 30 years.  He was notified while he was on sick leave that he was being offered a bridge to early retirement.  He has decided to take it and his last day will be Feb. 7th.   We really can't afford for him to retire yet but he's aware that these offers are usually followed by lay offs.  So, needless to say he's job hunting.

If anyone out there in OH land knows of a company looking for a great IT person with a great range of skills, please let us know. We're willing to relocate if we need to. Otherwise life is good at our house.

My weight has remained stable for the last two years. It'll be 5 years at the end of June since my surgery. I get overly brave occasionally, and eat things I shouldn't, but I'm keeping the promise I made to myself.  If I gain 2-3 pounds I give myself a pep talk and get back on the band wagon. Even with the death of our precious grandson this past year and some times when I was so busy trying to help my daughter survive that I wasn't taking very good care of me I have managed to maintain my weight where I want it to be.

It sure sounds like things are doing well in your household. Please tell Karl to keep up the great work. He is seeing the results that sure helps. He is certainly doing well. It sure sounds like you have you under control too. I like the pep talks you give to yourself. That is a great idea.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Laura,

Good to see you posting...please make this a regular stop for support of the 'girlfriend' kind.  We are such an awesome group.

Karl looked HAPPY last time I saw him.  My, he was running hither and yon talking to people. That's just not him....but now it is....!!

Mike hasn't told me if he has tried on the clothes.  He is thinking Fitness Express with a personal trainer again.... sigh...

I want to see more you on here. These gals need to know what an awesome person you are.

Your hubby is doing wonderful, what a great example he has in you, and someone who truely understands. I looked at your pictures. Your glasswork is beautiful.. Blessings
