Good morning, Debbie and my OFF family. It is past brrrrr here in Indiana if you ask me!

It is so cold here. I called and the temperature is 3 but it is steadily going down. It is suppose to get to about -10 later on today. Now that is cold no matter how you look at it. Tomorrow is a high of 1 I believe. I am not going anywhere today. There is no way I am going out in this icky stuff. I remember when the heart doctor told me that if I stick my head out the door and say it is either hot or cold to stay in. I told him that he obviously didn't want me going anywhere since the weather here is always either hot or cold.  With that I am getting off the subject of cold since it just makes me colder.

I am working on my sermon for Sunday. I am doing the service since the Pastor is going away for the week end. I guess the couple that he served as best man for at their wedding is celebrating their 25th anniversary and are planning on going there for the week end. I hope that they get to go and the weather isn't going to keep them away. I can't remember where he said that they lived now. I know it isn't in Indiana.

I am going to go with my cousins tomorrow to the hospital for Uncle Bob. He is having a procedure done for his kidney's and Aunt Virginia wants to go too. My cousin Dianne couldn't wheel both of them around in wheelchairs so I told her that I would go and help her out. I have to be at her house in the morning at 7:15. It works out well since Bill is working days too. Last night my cousin Bobby told me that he is taking the day off work to go and be there too. So at least we will be able to keep each other company. Please remember prayers and positive thoughts for Uncle Bob in the morning. He has so many health problems and he is 91 years old. I am not having good thoughts of him being with us to much longer.

My cable went out in the living room yesterday. I was talking to Eileen and must have hit the remote or something since strange things were coming up on my screen. I called and they said that they would have to come out and set up the appointment. Later on I called again and they sent a signal to the box but that didn't work either. I know that before they use to walk you through getting the remote to work again but neither one of them did it this time. I am going to be so mad if they do it when he gets here. He is suppose to be here between 10 and 1. This cable company is just a pain in my bee hind if you ask me. They told me the first time that I do not have cable guard and I told her that I do too and I always have had it. I have the phone, Internet and cable so why would I not have it. She told me that she didn't know when they took it off but it isn't there. I talked to the 2nd one and she told me that I did have it and always have. I told her that I didn't know where the first one got the information that I didn't and she said she didn't either. Then she told me that she was sorry for that inconvenience. I am sorry for the whole thing of having Comcast if you ask me. Most everyone who works there does things half way and if you get one that does just what they are suppose to you want to keep them and hang on to them forever! They are few and far between.

I guess I should get going. I am getting hungry and so I am going to have some fruit or something before I have breakfast. I can't believe how hungry I am this morning. I am not a breakfast person but that is changing this morning. ha ha

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers and special thoughts to everyone. Have a wonderful day and if you are where it is so cold work at staying warm and if you are in the sun and warm weather think of us when you go out in it!!!!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I think winter has arrived here, again.  What a strange one this year.  We are 70 one week, 28 the next!  We run the AC and then the heat.  Thank God our heat pump is working well.

My DH's pre-op appt with his surgeon is Friday. He is getting anxious to begin his 2 week pre-op liquid diet on the 19th.  I am anxious to get out of here and go to OR to babysit on the 19th.  By the time I get back on the 27th, my DH should be done gnawing the furniture and chewing heads, and be used to his liquids! I hope!!

Everyone have a fantabulous day.  Stay warm!

Good Morning, All

I worked my double last night, got to bed about 1.  I just got up with the alarm at 8, because the floor guys will be here between 9-10, and I have to finish clearing the kitchen.  That mostly involves moving everything I can to the Family Room, which I'll have to empty tomorrow because that's the floor they'll be doing tomorrow.  I'm tired just thinking about it.  Soooo, I'll pretty much be stuck in the Lving Rom for the day, keeping busy with the piles of things I put in here to work on today.  I figured I could organize my financial stuff from 2008 and start to get ready to have the income tax stuff done next month.  Also have a bunch of calls to make that can only be done during business hours.  I'll keep busy.  If not, I have a nice new book and a luscious heated throw to snuggle up with.  (Thank you, Thelma)

It's about 5 degrees here today.  NOT going out!

Sounds boring, huh?  I could use some boring for a day or so.

I can't wait to see how the new floors look!

Time to warm up the coffee.  Got me some Starbucks, ground it fresh, and the house smells heavenly!

I'll check back later.  Everyone have a wonderful day.

BORING??? I am exhausted just thinking about all that moving of stuff.  Also jeolous, I live in a rental and my guess is the kitchen was last done in the early 50s, so depressing. Enjoy your new floors and massage the sore muscles you  will probably have.Blessings

Good Morning Debbie and Friends,

It's been in the high 40s here this week during the day. Sounds like a heat wave compared to many of you east of the Rockies!

Yesterday my neighbor and I walked twice, each time for over 2 miles. We're going to try to do that twice a day most days. I've really needed a walking partner and now I have one just a few doors away. We have a nice walking trail for part of the way and the rest is our street. There is almost no traffic or noise and it's just so pleasant. It will be even more so when the weather gets nicer.

Today is TOPS weigh in. I have gained weight and am trying to get back on track. I do not dump on Sugar and carbs call my name too often. I know all carbs aren't bad but the white stuff just is something I have a hard time controlling. I'm thankful that I can't eat a lot at one time but if I don'****ch myself carbs call out to me way too often at all too frequent intervals!

We're finally getting our humidifier installed tomorrow. It's so dry here I just itch and scratch almost non stop. We have almost no humidity in the summer and winter with heating is even worse.

That's about it. My brother's "significant other" had a hip replacement Monday. I think I'll send her a soft, fleecy robe. She had a "one in 300 occurrence."  While replacing the hip, they managed to crack the femur. . . So NO weight on it for 6 weeks which will slow down her physical therapy for the replacement.

I've got my Aunt Fae's old cast iron dutch oven out. I'm slow cooking a roast and veggies today. I'm going to put sweet potatoes in with the other veggies. I haven't done that before but enjoyed the yams at Thanksgiving so much. I know they are good for us so I'll see if I can get Mike to eat them. He's not very adventurous in life or with food so we'll see. It will smell so good all day!

You all try to stay warm. I'm going to have a cup of coffee. Almost forgot. . . The hot tub got wired yesterday so we can now fill it and I will be able to do my middle of the night soaks looking at the stars. I do my best thinking there!

Hi Debbie and my OFF family:

Oh, shingles is supposed to be just horrible. I hope they caught it early enough for the antivirals to take effect. My friend Bruce (in Lubbock, the guy with Hodgkins) and my friend Mary Kay both had it last year, caught it early enough and got the antiviral drugs and were fine. Didn't have it in their mouths, though ... it's usually on the torso. Rest up and take it easy, take your drugs, that's about all you can do.

I was really cold yesterday too, but it's been very cold outside. It is officially 9 degrees here but the wind chill is -5. And it's snowing. The most I'll do if it's not snowing too bad is to get my mail (driving practice). It went well yesterday.

My big task yesterday was to look into new auto insurance. I wanted to see if I could save some money. I haven't really done anything with my AARP bennies, so I got an online quote, then spent some time talking with the agent. I had let my condo policy lapse awhile ago (not a good idea, I know ... I have homeowners' insurance through the condo association) so I took care of that through the AARP insurance company. Got a pretty good quote despite the little accident I had 2 1/2 years ago (skidded on ice in the work parking lot and hit another car as I was turning into the lot ... obviously my fault, but weather-related and nothing I could do to stop from hitting him. Still, it causes my rates to be higher. Those rates will go down in about six months, the agent told me.)

I have one more home PT session today and then I "graduate." Next week, I go to outpatient PT ... I have set that up at a place near the mall. It's not a far drive, about 3 miles. I called on Monday and set up my first appointment, then called my doctor's office to fax over a prescription so we're all set there.

Last night, I actually sat up in the living room and watched "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." I had seen in the theater and loved it; enjoyed it again plus the two little features were interesting. Then read for awhile. Didn't sleep all that well. Had some pain but mostly from my back. I hope to get to the chiropractor this week and get adjusted because this is really bothering me a lot.

Well, have a good day. Physical therapist will be here soon. Stay warm and safe; Debbie, you rest up!

Hi Debbie and Everyone,

Just checking in as I realize I've been reading and not posting for several days.  Been busy as hubby is really sick with bronchitis so he's been needing most of my time and lots of attention.

Doctor's visit for him this morning and I check in with the WLS this afternoon.  We'll get to see what the labs look like.  I'm very curious since it's been 7 months since surgery.

I hate to share that we're having a heatwave of sorts here in Southern California.  It hit 90 degrees according to the car's temperature gage two days ago.  I should be grateful but I don't care for heat.  Go figure.  Never happy with what I've got I guess.

Anyway, back to hubby as he is up now!      2dles!

Brrrrrr is right Debbie! YIKES! I am puttering around trying to keep busy (and warm). Making veggie beef soup (yummmmm) and cleaning. Ran out to store early before the snow got here and it gets even colder. I am hunkering in for the next 5 days!
