I Don't Know WHY I Hold Back . . .

Cindy,

I think we all do this at times.  Sometimes what we want to say in a reply has been said already by many others and it seems redundent.  Sometimes we feel inadaquate or uninspired.  I often just  can't get motivated to do more than read.  I think I suffer from what I call inertia.  You know... an object at rest is hard to get started.  I just can't seem to be bothered at times.  As far as the shyness most of us have been made to feel rejected or just totally ignored so I think this is a learned behavior.  It is difficult to insert yourself into a conversation if you are not sure you would be welcomed.  Of course we are all welcomed on this board but habits are well....habits.

So just jump in anytime and know you belong.

I can so totally relate to what you call inertia.  I love to read what is going on in our OFF members lives.  And, I care about everyone here.  I just find it hard, sometimes, to push myself to give of myself I guess by putting myself out there in a post.  I must try harder.

I do know that I belong to OFF.  This forum belongs to anyone who wants to join in.  That's part of what I love about it.

Dear Cindy, I certainly appreciate the experience from you guys who have been out there a year, or two or 5.  I need to know that there are people on this board who are still succeeding in their weight loss endeavors everyday.  Thank you for posting, I mean it.

I don't want to give the wrong impression.  I am having a struggle with eating too much and have gained quite a bit of weight back.  Long story short -- I eat for a variety of reasons and have gotten totally off-track.  My husband, on the other hand, is doing quite well maintaining his weight.

I do come here to OFF for strength and courage and to try to re-focus.

Cindy, You have so much to share and give to others.

I know that I seem very outgoing to others. Inside I still am that little duck on the water paddling furiously to stay afloat. One on one I am great. In a crowd not so much.

Laureen's post yesterday gave me so much to think about. I truly think these little side threads are the ones that help us get to know others and ourselves better.

I know you're going through tough times with your mom right now. No easy answers there; just know that many of us have been there and we're here for you. I know you are here for us too.

Sure wish I was close enough for us to walk on your beautiful beach! We're looking at a late February early March weekend for Lincoln City. I'll keep you posted.

We have a trip to Seattle planned for early March.

Hope we are here in town when you're in Lincoln City.  Would so love to see you again.

Cindy,

I'm glad I inspired you to post.  You know, my mother used to say that growing pains hurt only temporarily but after the pain comes growth.  I guess we can apply that to our emotional life or this board as well.  Sometimes, there has to be a little pain in order for there to be changes or growth.  Post away, I defintely enjoyed this one.
