What's New Monday?

Good Morning Cindy and Friends,

Well, It's a bit after 4am and I'm up for the day. I really HAVE to find a way to stay awake past 8pm! Mike often lays down in the bedroom by 8 with his back and feet bothering him. I try to watch a bit of tv on our wonderful big new  46", but it puts me right to sleep. Then I wake up about 10pm and head to bed.

By 4am I've had my quota of bed time. I have achy joints, pressure point pain, and sometimes an arm that has gone to sleep. So I get up, have a protein shake and supplements, make a pot of coffee and play on the computer.  New plan:  get my genealogy file cabinet out of the basement and into the computer room so that I can resume my "headhunting" for those who have gone before me. I also need to start taking all of my mom's pictures out of the albums so that we can have a "family sharing" weekend in May. She has so many pictures and my brother's grown kids (five of them) don't have many of when they were young. I think my brother was busy working and going to school much of the time they were small and my sis in law was just trying to survive. They had 4 kids in less than 3 years (no twins!). And then a "surprise" 10  years later.  Do the arithmetic! My nephew, Brad, was not quite 3 and had an almost 2 yr old sis, an almost 1 yr old sis, and a baby sis! Poor little guy; we expected him to act like a grownup and he wasn't even 3. My mom took tons of pics so there are many to sort and share.

I've invited them over for a weekend in May to do that. Should be a fun, nostalgic gathering but I need to do a lot of prep work before then. Mom was good about labeling and putting in albums. Unfortunately they'll all have to come out of the albums! We plan to take the ones everyone wants and have them scanned to a disk so that we can each have a cd to make prints from. So,to help with my falling asleep problem, I'm going to designate the evenings when Mike goes to lay down to genealogy and picture sorting. I can easily get lost in all of that for hours.

I had been out of my protein shakes since September. I order from allstarhealth.com. Like everything else prices have really gone up. I used to pay $27.00 for a 5 lb container. It is now $37.00. I order 2 at a time as the shipping is the same for one or two I get 70 drinks per container so it's still quite reasonable. And the best part is that after almost 4  years I still like them. It dissolves easily by just shaking with water in a pint mayo jar. I pour it over crushed ice and enjoy it immensely! (Well, immensely may be too strong but it's good!)

Got my trusty atlas out and started checking out NYC and environs. . . wow, everything seems "close" there compared to here in the far west. Our states are large and it takes hours to get from one side to the other; I'm talking 8 hours in WA from east to west. There are so many states within a short distance back there.

My wheels are already spinning. My Quaker ancestors were from the "hundred circles area" of Delaware and PA. I'd love to visit the Amish/Quaker country of PA . . . and there's Gettysburg,. . and Phily. . . and Washington, DC. I haven't been any of those places. I may have to tack a week on either before or after the gathering and do some of that. Mike's suggestion! So with his blessing I may have to just do that. I wish he wanted to do that stuff but seeing it on tv or reading about it seems to be enough for him. Reading about it just whets my appetite to see it in person. I do think one of these days I'd like to just make Washington, DC a destination trip. We can fly from Seattle or Portland to DC non stop now and quite reasonably if we watch the tickets. I've heard it is a tourist friendly place as far as the historic areas.

Meanwhile back to reality. We have our handyman friend Don coming over this morning. We had the downstairs roughed in for a bathroom. We are going to do the floor, toilet, and sink/mirror for now. A shower is plumbed but we have 3 full bathrooms in the rest of the house. The rest of the basement is just a large family room size that just needs to be carpeted. It has 2 windows and an outside door. After having the kids here for the holidays we realized that that space would come in handy too. We already have a couch down there. The one that we planned to put in the bonus room wouldn't fit. So we're hoping to do that finish work for not too much. I just want a commerical type carpet and nothing fancy in the bathroom. Think we'll just put a shower curtain up around the back end where a shower would eventually go. That way we can put shelving up and store stuff there. I figure anyone sleeping down there would definitely like to have a toilet and sink. They can come upstairs to shower.

Nothing much else going on in my world. I think the coffee is ready and it's just 4:35am west coast time. I will be so happy to see March arrive and longer days. I can tell in the afternoons already but mornings. . another story.

I've rambled on way too long. Make it a good one everyone.

Oh, wouldn't that be fun. However, I think that might be trying to do too much in a short period of time. I think I need to make another trip to your neck of the woods. Also want to explore Ohio, Indiana, Iowa. . . .

Nothing much going on today, CArl is teaching and I am glad he is out of the house.
He left a few miutes ago.
Nothing much else going on. I was approved for Unemployment so now I wont have to worry so much. It is only 203.00 a week but that will buy gas and groceries.
Not planning to go back to work till maybe June.
Waiting for Thursday to get another blood test to see when they are doing the radiation
Hope all is well.
