I had RNY at age 68 1/2 and know that my surgeon's group has done people over 70.  It depends on the patient and how their tests come out.

My goodness! I had surgery at age 70 - RNY! At the time there were few doctors doing RNY in my state. One doctor wouldn't take anyone over 69. I finally went to Oregon and had a whiz-bang surgeon and a very successful surgery. I would suggest that you check out other physicians and facilities. As someone else said here, surgeons have different requirements. I had almost a 40 bmi and am down to a 22 bmi. Don't give up and don't take no for an answer. Have you got your primary physician involved? Mine was very supportive and pointed me in the right direction.
Hugs and good luck!!

and a very young looking 70 at that!
I called my HMO and they insist on going to the specialist first who in turn require several seminars before even getting near the office.  So that is where I am at right now.  Tomorrow I go to another seminar.  Then I will be able to submit my name.

As for my PCP, she has been hounding me to lose weight for over a year now, so it won't be a problem getting a referral from her.
Good to hear from you.

I can't get over the successes with WL on this forum(although I am getting banded rather than RNY)!  It is so encouraging.
