Hi to all on this forum!
I have been busy going to a few intro meetings about banding and I am sure now that it is the WLS for me.
I am full of energy, active, weigh 240 39.9 M=BMI but have the high blood pressure, high chol and onset of apnea that comes with the package. AND....I am 59!
It didn't occur to me until just now when I logged on to this board that perhaps I would be declined..not because of disease, but because I was too old for the procedure! Come to think of it, all the faces at the meetings this week were very young ones or at least under 50.
Am I letting my imagination run wild over this 'age obsessin' I have been doing for the past hour?

You are reassuring me and I feel much better now! I like those records of loss also on your tickers/sidebars. Much thanks.
This is a lovely forum on the site for those of us who are older.

Welcome to OFF and our little family. We might be hard to find at times but so worth the lookin'. We offer care, sharing and unconditional love. If you have any questions just ask away. There is a lot of knowledgeable people on here. We are sometimes different from the young ones that have surgery since we are more "mature" and our bodies can be different. No problem though. My bet is that you will have no problem getting what you need. Keep us posted and know that we are here for you any time you need us.

I am going the way of Insurance and they have Hospitals which they have chosen and one can only choose from those hospitals.
Welcome,
Our imagination does run wild at times. You have made a good decision to join the over 50 forum. (OFF)
I had RNY surgery 2 years ago at age 59. Surgeon have different guidelines, but mine will generally go to 65, possibly older, depending on the patient.
There are several older people in my two support groups. The older ones follow the guidelines much better than the younger ones.
Good luck
Annette
