Brenda Update
Brenda is doing so much better. She is now on regular foods but having some issues with that. It looks like she may be coming home tomorrow. She is so anxious to get out of there. After a week, I can understand, but I wanted her to stay to make sure everything is working right. This morning a bariatric surgeon came in to see her. He left leaving us with the attitude that it was a waste of his time to see her. Sure glad her doctor isn't that way.
Thank you to everyone on the board that sent prayers Brenda's way. We are still in awe of the outpouring of love and prayers from people that we haven't met yet. One of the nurses said her room looks like the gift shop with so many flowers, balloons, and cards.
Brenda has a long way to recover, but everyone's prayers have got her this far. We can't thank our OFF family enough.
Love,
Floyd
Hello, Floyd:
I am very pleased and relieved to hear this wonderful news that Brenda is improving so well.
I will say that I am not at all religious but that I am very spiritual (and before all the gasps of horror rise from the ranks, that means that I am connected with all the positive natural energy that we are made of..call it God, call it Buddha, call it Jehovah, it's all the same...GOODNESS.) I believe that I do not need to belong to a building or a group to be considered a good person. I believe in love and kindness and that the commandments are basic common sense rules of how to get along in a decent society with our fellow man.
And so I do believe that PRAYER, regardless of it's source, meaning what "religion" it might spring from, comes from purity of the heart and love from the person who sends it.
Prayer, to me, is a positive loving energy sent on behalf of someone who needs extra help. And so prayer is a human being's way of helping and supporting those in need. And it does work. Brenda was the recipient of many prayers and I am happy that so many helped her.
I hope that you understand why Im posting this...not to stand on the soapbox and pontifify about my beliefs ...but to simply explain how grateful I am that people band together to help each other in time of need, like now when Brenda was in peril. It warms the heart to see this.

I remember about 6 weeks after my surgery, I was

So far, I have not had that problem any more and hope I never do.
Take care and hope she gets to come home soon.

Glad to hear Brenda is doing better. I can't remember if she had wls also. How is this going to affect her eating... ( is she had the surgery)? This is one of the issues I was concerned about before having surgery.
I know you too will be glad to have her back home. Its amazing what surgery can do "now a days."
Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers

Millie,
Brenda had WLS 11 days before I did. We were assured by the surgeon that this problem had nothing to do with WLS. When people hear about her, that's the first thing they think of, "it must have been because of the gastric bypass." The surgeon said "absolutely not". She's having some issues with eating now. She has never been able to tolerate pepper and all her food seems to be too spicy for her, even though it's not. Something in her taste buds are off. I'm sure it will improve in time.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. They are much appreciated and worked.
