Oh Annette,  I am so sorry to hear you lost Joey.  My heart goes out to you during such a hard time.  I love the Rainbow Bridge that George posted, when we have lost  our pets I found comfort in that piece.

Hugs, Paulette

Dear Annette and the furbrats:

Yes, our cats react to our grief. When I had to put Kittle to sleep, Cinnamon was so depressed (it was his brother, littermate) and I couldn't get him to do anything but eat, sleep and poop). He wouldn't play or anything else. He was extremely depressed. That's when I got Scooter ... a bit earlier than I wanted, but I thought having another cat in the house would perk Cinnamon up. Well, Scooter turned out to be a bit of a terrorist at first. Once he got used to the apartment, he decided he wanted me all to himself ... and he started chasing Cinnamon around. Cinnamon was terrified! Then I went on vacation and hoped they would be OK without me. I got home and they were the best of buddies, snuggled up together and grooming each other. And Cinnamon was out of his depression. They really pick up on our emotions a lot.

When Cinnamon left me, Scooter was all over me, snuggling with me more than usual. And since Diva has been gone (although she's not dead), Scooter has been more attentive and more vocal, too.

So I know your furbrats are missing Joey, but they know you are grieving so much, they're trying to pick you up and make you feel better, too. You did your best for Joey, you know you did ... and letting him go was the best thing you could do, too. It was hard, but you had to do it because it was also humane. He's no longer suffering.

When I had to put Cinnamon to sleep, Scooter came up to him and head-butted him, licked him on the head as if to say good-bye. He knew. Then I held Cinnamon in my arms and the vet gave him the drugs and he passed peacefully to sleep. I had him for nearly 19 years, from Montana to South Dakota to Georgia and finally Michigan.

Remember the love Joey gave you
"Goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me throughout the years
Will take away the tears
I'm OK now
Goodbye my friend
You can go now
Goodbye my friend"

It's Saturday, and I've been up since 6:30.  I'm not thrilled with that.  But it's going to be a busy weekend, so I GUESS I could get an early start.

Prolly not....

I've been taking up the tiles in my large kitchen this week, before having the new floor put in.  A lot of them were loose, so I thought, "No problem"... Wrong!  I had to get a tile lifter, which is sort of like a side-ways air hammer, and have been peeling the ties up inch by inch for the past few days.  I have to finish by Sunday.  I'm about halfway there.  It'll get done.  I may need a week in traction afterwards.  It's a heavy machine.  But it's working, and the new floor will be in on Wednesday.  In two weeks most of my floors will be finished, the new French doors will be in, and I may be able to crash.  For sure the house will be warmer, because the draft from the room I'm closing off for the winter will be gone.

I have a baby shower this afternoon for one of my ex-husband's daughters. I haven't seen nor heard fom her in the 11 years since her Dad and I divorced, and I wouldn't bother to go, except two of her sisters who I do keep in touch with have asked me.  It should be fun....  His first ex-wife, his second ex-wife (me), and his current girlfriend.  Along with his Mom (strange lady) and his 50'ish unmarried sister.  I won't stay long; I have a nasty cold which is as good an excuse as any.  But I do want to be there for the girls who I still keep up with.  I'll wash my hands a lot and try not to breathe on anyone.

And, I have to be honest....  Most of them haven't seen me for the past 10 years.  110 lbs ago.  I will be dressed to kill.  I'm sure you all on this board understand enough not to judge.  That thought gets me going to places I've avoided for years.

Well, at least I'm getting out more now.....

I've been fighting a cold all week.  Well, yesterday, it won the battle.  Sneezy, drippy, stuffy, I have it all.  Slept all night mouth breathing.  The OJ I drank this morning to cut the yukkies set wrong on my pouch.  Now I hesitate to drink my coffee for a while.  I want my coffee!!!  Guess I'll have to eat something  first, to coat my fussy pouch.  But I don't feel like eating.  Woe is me!

OK, enough whining.  Thanks for listening.  I'll be fine.  Guess I'll go fire up the air hammer thingy.

Catch you all later.

Candy, Are these vinyl tiles ie not ceramic? If they are if you can borrow a blow torch and heat them up they will pop off much easier. It sound dangerous but it really isn't. Ask around. I am so good at tearing things up. Wish I was there to help. I'm not so good at putting it back together, but man oh man can I tear it down! I miss you. Are you thinking about NYC in the fall?

Guess the denim skirt and red boots wouldn't be appropriate? They sure were cute in Fort Worth!

Ohhhh  How I would love to be a fly on the wall.  What a funny scene you are painting with your description ! !   No matter what you wear you will look good.  Hold your head up high and strut your stuff.

As for the kitchen.... wow   that is a lot of work.  I bet it will be great when done.  I've always wanted to re-do a room of some sort.  Sigh, the apartment complex frowns on remodeling... lol  lol

Good Saturday morning all.

I hope everyone's spirits are lifting after all of the adversity, sadness, and pain.

Our son has begun watching the Food Network and last evening had us over for a wonderful dinner.  Very tender beef tenderloin medallions with a sherry sauce.  OMG!!!  Plus some yummy potatoes and veggies.  I provided the dessert, but didn't have any of that. All quite delicious.  Of course, son and DIL both work, so meals are LOTS later than DH and I are used to eating.  So after we got back home, we stayed up later than usual, so I could be sure my little pouch was empty.  I HATE foaming in the middle of the night and haven't in months.

Today is my house cleaning day!  Change the sheets, deep dusting (fan blades, baseboards etc.), vacuum and mopping.  You know the stuff you hate, but HAVE to be done regularly.

As a treat for all my hard work cleaning we are having liver and onions for lunch!  I can hardly wait.  That is one dish I have loved for years and I am so happy I can still enjoy it after banding.  There are really only a few things I have had to give up totally (P,B, and J on nice soft white bread comes to mind).

Everyone have a fantabulous Saturday!
