Made it home just in time.......

Wednesday hubby and I drove to my appt with my surgeon which is around 300 miles from our hometown.  We have so much snow and they were predicting another bad snow storm so thought we'd go down a day before my appt.  I have this horrible cold and was feeling punk and had the chills big time.  When we got to our destination and Motel, I climbed under the covers with all my clothes on and stayed there until we had to go get something to eat. I was just freezing.  My appt wasn't 'til 2 O'Clock the next afternoon.  In the morning I felt better and although I ate very little and didn't get much protein in, I tried my best to get the fluids in.  I took a chance that the Doc could see me a little earlier and I was right, so after a good check up and big weight loss on the scales, we headed back home with drifting snow most of the way and the closer we got to home (west) the worse the visability was and about 2 miles from home the freezing rain started and it got real slippery.  I've never been so glad to see the lights of our town up ahead
The good news is, I don't have to go back for any official visits for a year now...unless any unforeseen problems arise.  I am doing great and the surgeon was very pleased with my progress.  Today I am about ready to make a big pot of veg/beef soup with oodles of meat and veggies of all kinds.
(I just sent hubby to the market with my grocery list....I don't like driving in this deep, deep snow)
Hope everyone has a happy, healthy and safe weekend.....
Stay warm or Stay cool.....what ever your climate calls for.

Sandy,

Glad you made it home safe and sound and good luck as you continue your journey, hopefully, you have some support groups to keep plugged in, as well as this board.  I have found, for me personally, that support is a key component in the longterm success of this journey, as the surgery is a tool for our body, yet we still face the food demons the further out we get.  I will just share with you what I heard recently at my support group and that is, to follow your surgeons instructions to the letter, as what you did got you to that operating table and his instructions will get you to a healthy place, however, it is abiding by the rules of post-WLS life that will keep us on a successful path.

Best wishes, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Lynne,

I am glad you are enjoying your beautiful warm weather.  North Dakota is where I was born and raised and  i do love it here, albeit the weather this year.  It has been unusally weird weather all around the nation though and I feel so bad for those that are having the floods because of all the snow.
We have to take it as it comes because we have no control over such things.  So don't get too warm, Lynne.....LOL

Hi JB,
The soup is simmering as I sit here.  I made enough for a small army...haha...I will give some to DS & DIL, to my SIL and freeze alot of it.  I made it in a large, large soup pot.
We need hot soup around here these days to keep warm.

I'm glad to hear that you made it home OK!  We're expecting a big storm here tomorrow and I just hate the snow... I'm going out in a few minutes to get some groceries so I don't have to leave my warm house tomorrow.

Glad you made the trip safely. I am always COLD since I have lost 140 pounds! I am in central Ohio. My hands and feet are always ice cold. I often sleep fully clothed with a quilt and 2 blankets on me! Too darn cold to take clothes off to put on nightgown! lol

Best wishes on your WL journey!
