Me, David and 6 million Americans....
ARE ALL HEADED TO WASHINGTON, DC!!!!!!
I called my Congressman early on Nov. 5th and requested seats/tickets for the swearing in ceremoney at the US Capitol. He had 198 seats and 1000 requests for 2000 tickets....
We purchased airline tickets just in case (also on Nov 5th) and began to make plans... staying with cousins outside of DC, purchasing Metrorail tickets online, reserving a rental car... and waited to hear if we had tickets to get in. If not, we'd just go hang out on the Mall with 6 million other projected attendees and watch it all on jumbotrons.....
My Congressman is a customer at the Farmers Market but even that wasn't enough to get me tickets... BUT.... they had a lottery and Oh, Happy Day, David and I scored two tickets to the seated area in front of the Capitol. WHOOOHOOOO!
I hesitate to post all this because in the past I found the group that was on here at the time was decidely conservative and I received more than one smack down for making "political" posts. But I checked in after being AWOL for awhile and still see some friendly faces so I took a chance. Because, after all, this is a historic event... a NATIONAL historic event... the Inauguration of the AMERICAN President, not the Democratic President... so I decided to share my good news...
So, if you watch the events on the TV machine... look for us in the crowd. I'll be the skinny broad next to the really tall dude. :-)

Well, Missy luvsgoats, I was just having a conversation today with someone who said they missed having you post. You are always a welcome addition to the OFF yanno.
Congrats on the tickets. I'd love to go and just be part of history. GOOD FOR YOU!!
You've done some amazing things... and we love hearing about them... keeps our mundane lifes afloat.
I keep hanging around to give the 'young'uns' hope for their future. Thank goodness you showed up and can do the same.

That is so AWESOME !!!!
Take tissues and don't wear mascara, I need you to cry for me in the emotion of the moment. I'll be watching at an Elks Club, of all places, with my mostly republican swim class. But they are Americans too, come to think of it.
Glad to see you posting. I lurk daily but post rarely, which is probably a good thing.

Ya know what....... I didn't vote for Obama..... However, If I could get tickets to go... I surely would.
It is a great day for America....
AND being a Republican doesn't mean I won't support him. The majority has spoken and I will listen. THAT is what makes America the greatest. He is leading our nation and as part of that nation I will do my best to support the greater good.
Go, have fun, hold your head up high.... Be A Proud American.... I sure am.

Oh Nancy how COOL! I am so happy and envious too for you! I hope to be watching this historic event on TV during our lunch hour that day. My hope is that Barak Obama is as good as we hope he is. Of course nothing can happen over night and it will take time. The man isn't a miracle worker, but we as a nation all have such high hopes it seems.
I remember as a kid hearing JFK saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" while I was in the 3rd grade at school. Of course we know what happened just 3 years later.
Have a great time and enjoy every minute of it!
