Gaining, OMG

 Rudie,

You sure are not alone.....  I wish my pouch would be pickier.  I too gained weight and most of it is not from the holidays.  It's fear of my blood sugar dropping and weirding out.

Food wise it's back to basics for me.  I thought of the food pouch test but opted for the post surgery diet....  little plate ..... little portions.....  correct foods....  watching what I eat.

I think many of us have old habits that are hard to control especially this time of year.  It sure is a learning process.   I have a Dr appt on the 15th and am going to ask for a referral to a counselor.  I have a few questions regarding habits that I can't seem to break.

Best Wishes...   Millie

I have done the same just not over the holidays in particular.  I am about 10 pounds up from my lowest and had 30lbs to go to reach my personal goal.  I graze when I can't sleep which is often and then head hunger starts to take over during the day.  I think I finally have a handle on it.  I actually went to a hypnotist for the sleep problem and he said he could address the grazing as well.  He seems to have helped the grazing but not the sleep issue.  I have another session and then a tape to listen to daily so maybe in a few weeks I be able to sleep as well.  Its hard when boredom, stress, or just old habits start rearing their heads.  I guess if it was easy we wouldn't have needed this WLS tool.  I don't know what I would do if I lost control and gain my weight back.  I don't even want to think about it. So I watch the scale and when I get up more than 5 lbs I start talking to myself and trying to get back on track.  Just that 10 lbs makes my clothes feel tight as you said and I refuse to buy larger ones.  I think that is why it took me so long to so something about my weight issues.  I always had larger clothes to go back to.  Now I give them away quick and if my jeans are too tight I suffer until I loose the few pounds it takes to feel comfortable again.  Good luck, we are all in the same boat trying to support each other.

Thanks so much for your kind support. The sleep problems are a major concern, I know. I am grinding my teeth at night and have constant jaw aches. I used to listen to tapes too and they can be useful. Please take care and we'll all do this together.

Rudie,

The others gave you good advice but I will gladly offer support.

When we were soooo big, a couple of pounds in either direction didn't show much. Similar to removing a cup of water from the Ocean.

As we are smaller, those same couple pounds are more obvious.

Get back to basics and give us a call for help. We will do our best.

Annette: Thanks so much for the support. The couple of pounds are certainly noticeable to me - clothes fit tighter. I think one of the reasons for the gain is no exercise. I got sick (husband too) for a couple of weeks in December and didn't feel like moving. But, big mistake - I didn't eat protein, but the "sliders" carb foods that digest easily.

Are you having difficulty with any kinds of food? I used to LOVE beef, especially prime rib, but can't tolerate it any more. Even if I chew lots.

I think that by exercise, going back to basics and drinking water, I should be back to my low. I was a lightweight, a little less than 100 pounds overweight.

Thank you for the support. It really helps.

Im doing the pouch test with Judy also, and have lost 4.5 pounds so far. Its really to set the sensitivity of the pouch again ,but weight loss is an added benefit sometimes. I did it last year right after the holidays too, and I regained the ability to dump, and lost all cravings for carbs. It works, and is a good jump start. Then I just go back to basics and stay there. My main thing is the water,,I hate water and just dont drink it. Im back to that now tho.

Good luck,,we are here for support if you need us. many of us have been there, done that, and have the Tshirt to prove it! LOL
