We want our board back!

Jean,

Here's the thing, why should I or anyone else have to wade through all this religious crap.  For example, what if a group of members who are wiccan posted every single day about wiccan activities, like doing spells or reading their literature or say Jehovah witnesses posted stuff from their watchtower, you guys, and I mean most Christains, would be ranting and raving.  What is good for the goose is good for the gander and I say the goose nor the gander need to put their religious views on this board.  I should not have to be reminded every single time that I come here that you guys religious views are out there.  Go to the religious board to do that and leave this for the actual weightloss support.

Jeannie,

As I said in my previous post, I recommend using the OT prefix when posting something that is off-topic (religious or not).

And, why is it so important for Christains to take over this board too.  Why offtopic, why topic it at all.  I am not understanding why it is okay for you guys to post here over every little hangnail and scripture you read, but when it comes to me or others who are wanting to post supportive information, we are pretty much reminded that this is you guys board.  Well, my dear, it is our board too and many of us want it back.  So, deal with it.

Jeannie,

Again, I'm sorry if anybody on the OFF board ever hurt you.  I don't recall personally ever, ever responding to any of your posts in a negative fashion, but if I did, I am truly sorry.

Actually, I have enjoyed reading your posts.

So, if you want the board back, go for it!  I think it will be fun!

Hmm, first time and probably last time for me to come to this forum.  I found this forum because I thought I fit in the paramaters of the name of it.  The only thing I have seen not offensive so far are Jeannie's posts.  I am not overly religious and I haven't seen anyone cramming religion down anyone's throats on any of the forums I have been on.  I thought this board belonged to whoever started OH, not a few posters.

Hey, don't leave.  It will get better.  Others are coming back, they promise.  But if they don't, just stick with what you feel is best for youand leave the rest behind. I probably should have not started this thread, but it is something that I feel needed to be said.  You are right, this board belongs to us all.  You'll benefit if you hang out.

Wow, Jeannie - you really said it!!!   I don't know that I feel quite as strongly as you do, but I do agree that I come here for weight-loss support & issues that relate.

I would much prefer not to see the personal dramas (I really worry that people put so much private info on the internet) and I especially dislike the sexual "jokes / comments" that are made by some members.    The religious talk is also a personal turn-off for me.

I really enjoy feeling like "part of the group", but lately it seems there are more postings that are off-topic & wonder if I really belong here.     Don't get me wrong, I have received excellent support for the wls journey & have had the pleasure of meeting many of the members personally (yes, I traveled, but I don't complain about my financial situation).

I wonder if there's any interest in having a new forum for those who are interested.   Like, for example - an Over 50 Christian Forum?     I think there is a legitimate need for lots of different kinds of support, and it would be difficult for one forum to satisfy everyone.

One last thought:   I think instead of lurking, I should post my support issues & respond to others who do the same.   I think this will be my New Year's Goal ---- to give support when I can and to ask for support when I need it.     HUGS to ALL !!!

Jan, thanks for the support.  I agree that there needs to be a seperation of forum for those who need the religious support as opposed to those of us who need wls support.  I really didn't mean to pick on the two that I did because I really like Judy and the other gal, but really, do we need to know all this stuff and pray for them on top of it.  When my daughter took our grandson, it was the hardest day of my life and this board really supported me and many did their prayers, and when others have had tragedies, it is good to rally around, but if you want to pray or do those types of activities, just email them.  I am so opposed to that look at me, I am a bible thumper, even if I am living out of wedlock or trying to cyber bag every female that comes in contact with my thread. LOL  I just wish this board would go back to what it was, a place for all people.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone by my comments.  I will do my best not to speak "Christianese".  Please do not boot me off of the Over Fifty Forum.

By posting that, you have made a racial slur and don't even know it.  Why would you take a religion that is so far removed from our Asian friends and tie it in with the suffix of their nationality.  I'm thinking they would be offended.  It is not a language in itself, it is a belief and I'm sure you and the others can go and probably do go ninety percent of the time without even mention Jesus or Moses or anyone, but when it is not appropriate, you pull the look at me, I'm born again or look at me, I'm being persecuted because I speak what was it???  Look, read your history and you will find that the Christains have always been the persecutors and not vice versa.  The crusades, ring a bell?  Oh, lets not forget what the protestants and catholics did to the Jews and Muslims during the middle ages.  And, look at what they are doing to our gay brothers and sisters today.  My point is keep your racism and christainity at home or in your church where it belongs, not on our wls support forum.
