Introduction of new forum member
Joyce, welcome to OFF. If you ask me it is the best forum OH has to offer. I felt instantly at home when I first came on here.
We share our experience, strength and hope with each other and in doing that we learn how to live our new and exciting lives. I hope that you post often and that way we can get to know you. Just pull up a comfy seat, get your favorite cuppa your favorite and sit back and chat with us for a bit when you get the chance. You are always welcome.

Aloha Joyce from your WLS sister in Hawaii.....I'm always behind because I'm in such a different time zone, but I couldn't resist popping in here and welcoming you. I have been coming into the OFF since before my surgery...probably four years now because it took me so long to get to my surgery date.....classes, various exams, etc. etc. But it has been so worth it.
I now have lost 165 lbs....and went from 319 to 154 this morning. I just had a panniculectomy a month ago and got rid of excess tummy skin and now have a flat stomach with a happy smiley face scar from hipbone to hipbone......happy belly!!
My original home was Santa Cruz, Ca. and that is where one of my sons lives. I'm going there next week to babysit my 3 grandsons (4, 2 and 8 months) while my son and DIL go skiing in Switzerland. At 319 lbs. there would be no way I could keep up with little ones, but now I can do so much more...including getting up and down from the floor with no problem. It sometimes feels like a miracle.
You have a fabulous adventure ahead of you.....enjoy every minute!Q
Aloha nui loa,

Aloha, Karen!
Thank you for writing! I hope you have tremendous fun with your three grandsons. You look much more like a young mom than a grandma in your picture!
I too am looking forward to more energy and the ability to do more things when I have lost weight. I have had three knee surgeries (1 left, 2 right) and have a cyst on my spine between L4 and L5. I know I still have to have the cyst dealt with, but I am hoping to be able to be more active with less pain after I have dropped the first 40 - 50 lbs.
Thank you for reminding me about the adventure. Adventure is easier to look forward to than surgery is! LOL
