Hello Everyone!
I have been checking out various offerings of Obesity Help for months now but just noticed this particular forum today!!
My name is Joyce. I am 61, and after quite a long wait, I am scheduled for RNY on Jan 12th.
Weight has been an issue during almost all of my adult years. When I was in my 20s and 30s, I seemed to be able to stick to a diet/food plan long enough to get the weight off - only to put it back on again. Now I have been over 200 lbs. for 25 years. I am grateful that WLS is an option and that I finally have a date.
I could use some pals to cheer me on because I know there will be tough times ahead: pain, possible plateaus, mourning the loss of food as a comforter, having to get more active and sticking to it. Those of you who have been there will be a treasure trove of advice for me.
Thank you for being there for me and for others!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hello Mark!
Yes, we are in Rio Vista. We moved here from Ventura Co. after I retired from teaching. My husband is retired Navy, and our goal had been to relocate to an area where there was a large base which would probably not be closed. Travis was esp. appealing because of Space A flights. The other reason we came here is that my sister had been doing 99% of filling my Mom's needs for many years, and I wanted to finally share that with her. Our mom is 92 and in an assisted living home.
I was sorry to read that you had regained some of your weight and are trying to get that off. I have had three knee surgeries including one knee replacement, so I can relate to what you wrote about pain. I hope your gout has continued to improve.
Thanks for cheering me on.

Welcome aboard the OFF friendship bus Joyce. I think you are going to like it here. I know I sure do. I am 66 years old, a wife, mom and grandmom. I had my surgery in November (19th) and I have grown to love this forum so much. Every one here is so understanding, loyal, thoughtful and non judgemental. Maybe that's because we've lived life a long time and really know what's important and what's not important in life. We are here to listen to you and help you along this wonderful adventure called WLS. Let us know more about you and ask any questions that you may have concerning this "ride" you're about to go on- either pre-op or post-op, there are alot of people on here that can help. Welcome again, Joyce.
