I would like to say Hi
Welcome home. This is the best site on OH. We are a wonderful group of woman and men who have all walked the same paths through our mature lives. We share, care, support, laugh, even cry along with each other. This surgery was the best for me. Come here often and let us know when and if we can help.

Hard to speak about myself sometimes. I have been a big girl as long as I remember. I wore a size 16 in 5Th grade. I loved my food, but it has been my friend, most of my life. As a young adult I started starving myself thinking it would help me lose weight. Didn't work I gained and gained and gained. Now a whopping weight of 325.
I have a wonderful husband, two daughters. and 7 grandchildren. I want to be here to see them grow, I want to be able to move and play with them. Though I am 52 I feel so young.
I am so excited about this path, and scared at the same time.

Hi Terri: Welcome to OFF....Congratulations on deciding to have WLS. You are on the right path. It is normal to be scared. We all were but so excited at the same time. You will be just fine. It is quite the ride, for sure. We all have had to jump through some hoops and have had to test our patience in getting ready for this adventure. Please continue to post and let us know more about you and how you are coming along.
A Big Welcome Hug,
Sandy
A Big Welcome Hug,
Sandy

You have started on the journey. It is a great journey.
My wife and I have both had RNY (gastric bypass). We have two kids (son and daughter) and six grandkids.
Mary (wife) weighed very close to 300 lbs at the beginning. She is now down to 183 as of today. She also gets in trouble all the time at my son's house for running in the house with the kids. And I seriously mean running. Not possible 3 years ago.
At our family Christmas, my 11 year old grandson (Eddie) made the comment that no one can get him. Mary leaped off the couch and tackled him to the ground. He never saw it coming. They laughed for quite a while.
This can be you in a couple of years. Just take the journey step by step. Follow doctors orders. They are doctors for a reason. And please, don't do it half a**ed. It hurts me to see friends that have had the surgery go out drinking, eating the wrong stuff, drinking sodas, etc. and then wondering why they are not losing weight. Follow the rules.

This is my first day on this board and I love it already - the people are so warm and welcoming. Keep us posted on your progress so we can offer you a LOT of encouragement on your way. I just had surgery and ALREADY am feeling better ... more energy and such a positive outlook on the future. You will, too!!
