Hi Mary,

Yes, it's great not to have to make the resolutions that, for me, were broken before the first week of the New Year was over. . .

I'm spending tonight here (at home) with my youngest daughter who has been visiting from Florida since Christmas Eve, we originally were going to do the Times Square thing (her desire), but thankfully, she decided that it was toooooo cold to do it and boy am I happy about that, so instead when we were almost home from fighting the winds on my drive home from NYC, we ordered sushi and will be watching the ball drop from my living room couch. . .

Wishing you and everyone else a very HAPPY 2009!  May health make all the other things you need in life possible!

Hugs, Laureen

Every year as we watch New Years Eve in Time Square my children always wish they were there. Probably everyone tha****ches it on TV wish they could experience it just once. Do real New Yorkers actually go to Time Square or do they know that is NOT the place to be New Years Eve? Looks like fun but it was way too cold for me to be outside.
In Pittsburgh there is something similar called First Night. For $8 you get a pin on button that gives you admission to everything available. It starts early in the day with a lot of things for families to do. You can travel throughout the downtown area and see plays, bands, symphony, do crafts etc. They have fireworks and our "ball" goes up to the new year instead of dropping.
Too cold here for us to do that either.

At around 10:45 my husband called his Mom and she said she had been have heart palpitations for the last 2 hours. She had called the doctor and he said if she didn't feel any better to come to the ER.  So, my husband and his sister took her to the ER. They kept her and she is still there today. DH came home at about 3am. She is stable and having lunch now. Still having some irregular heartbeats so they are monitoring her.
She gets this about every two years. They get her stable and do some medication changes and shes good for the next two years. Last time it happened a couple years ago about 4 days before Christmas and she came home on Christmas Day.
What a way to start the new year.

Mary

Here I sit alone....lol...JB is long gone to bed...I told him that you know youre old when you go to bed NYE at 11pm.

Derek worked for 36 hours straight with this last bad snow storm and is now sleeping since 5 pm this afternon.  He is out cold...I think I hear snoring downstairs.

I am having our family Christmas dinner New Years day...finally.  The SNOW-magedden storms and Mother being in the hospital just got me to decide that I would postpone our Christmas until it was easier for everyone.

Then I got brilliant this afternoon and decided to roast the turkey and cook the potatoes TODAY instead and just heat it all up tomorrow (New Years day)  thinking that it would lessen the pressure on me...which is fine, except that I forgot that it takes a long time for the turkey to cool off before I can put it into the fridge after removing the stuffing.

So here I sit, bleary-eyed, waiting..waiting.  I guess Im old too...lol..because Im WISHING that I was in bed already.  Well, off to carve the turkey and head to bed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

It is New Years day and I just got home from a afternoon party with friends.  This holiday season has been a good one for me.

It started with Thanksgiving.  I went to Atlanta to stay with my mother while my sister went to visit her son in Utah.  I got to spend a lot of time with my son and DIL as they live near by.  For Christmas my DH and I took a friend from Tiawan to our condo in Arkansas.  She is so easy to travel with that we had a lovely and very peaceful week .  Went to church on Christmas eve and the service was lovely.  For New Years Eve. I invited a friend over to join DH and I for dinner.  I made chicken and sausage gumbo and bought a little boudin.  Angela has never eaten either dish.  I made a sugar free napolean with SF pudding, SF Cherry pie filling with a little added rum and puff pastry.  After dinner we walked to Starbucks had coffee and for me iced tea then walked back home.  We had our dessert and drank some nice champagne pretended we were in whatever country who's time was midnight, wished each other Happy New Year, brought our friend home and was back home by 9:00 pm.  Went to bed early.  Today we went to a friend's house for an afternoon get together got home around 5:30.  DH has to get up early for work tomorrow and in the afternoon head to Louisiana.  He'll be working over the week-end  so it will be an early night tonight also.  I loved the Christmases with all the famnily together but this one has been nice and peaceful.  That is special too.

I wish every on a very happy 2009 filled with joy, love, and good health.
