I admit it, I am having some trouble eating "healthy" good for me type of foods this week.  I find myself eating the sweets, chips/dips etc. just smaller portions of it.  Is anybody else having difficulties getting thru the holidays like me?   Downsizin4good - Lapband sx 10/2008

Yes 'em !  I am right there with you.  At work there has been stuff that I haven't wanted to touch until now, and it has been a struggle...  I decided not to deprive myself if it is something I really want, but I am glad to be home and away from it.  Sure smaller portions, but still the wrong things.  I am even considering all liquids for a few days to get back on track.  I have to work again tomorrow and then I on Tuesday night.  Then I will be off for a few days.  If I can hold out until then, I am thinking 3 days of liquids and lots of exercise....

All I can say is don't beat yourself up over it.  We will get thru this time and onto somethng else.

thanks Sheila,  I guess old bad habits die hard.  I'm okay when I'm home b/c like you, I don't have the stuff in my house.  Its at work where all the temptations are.  Hey, how did you get that ticker on your site?

Getting the ticker is the easy part ... just go to www.tickerfactory.com and it is self explanatory to pick out the style you want.  Then getting it on your signature line is not too bad.  But since they have changed OH, I am not sure - but start by looking under user settings or my account and go to the signature line - then copy and paste your ticker.  It is easy to update because you just point your mouse to the ticker and go to the site and then use the edit/update button...

I am not computer savy, so if I can do it, then anyone can.... LOL

Barely raising my hand......  me too.  I wish  my pouch was a little more selective and picky.

I have little problem digesting sugars and sweets.  Chips, well, I eat more after surgery than before.  It is the salt.   Everyday I tell myself this has got to stop.  Yesterday I threw out a lot of "foods" that were not WLS friendly.  I hate wasting food but I had to look at it as if it were poison, which it is to my system now.

Two things I didn't over do are drinking too much water and exercise. Not a problem there.. ughh

I'm trying to  keep busy cleaning up after the holiday whirlwind.  I didn't realize how messy my kitchen got.  My plan is to clean it up and clean out cupboards and have only healthy foods in there.

I'm thankful I have all you wonderful people to help out when I need the little nudge (or blatant kick in the arse) to keep on track.

I have absolutely NO self-control so the sweets and chocolates stay out of my house. Chips have no appeal but I refuse to see them staring at me.

If my hubby wants those foods, he can keep them in his office or car. When we go to a family dinner, I take along something SF/FF for me and to share. Usually it doesn't bother me to watch others eating desserts but I try to plan ahead in case I get a yen.

That may sound too extreme for most people but that is the only way I can resist temptation. It is still possible to over-indulge on healthy foods too. We just keep working on staying focused and don't beat ourselves up over a small mistake. None of us got obese from one or two servings of sweets/dips/chips. It was a steady diet of those foods.

sounds like good advice, thanks Annette.  I'm glad the holidays are over with, well almost, NYE. but I don't have any plans to go out, so I should be ok.  Amy

Yep, here I am!  It's amazing that I now weigh the same as I did before the holidays...124 and holding. On one hand it's been nice to be able to take a taste of this and a taste of that along with everyone else, but I'm over it now. I have never had a problem with dumping and just stayed away from sweets until about six months ago. Started to eat them occasionally, then more often. But now I seem to have developed a sensitivity to them and have had some symptoms of dumping, mild, but still it's there. I'm taking that as a good thing....time to get off this little side road.

Most everything I cooked over the holidays had low fat cheeses substituted for the full fat, non fat milk in place of whole milk or cream, and eggbeaters instead of the real eggs. So, all in all, it wasn't too bad, but I will be very happy when all the goodies are gone and I can go back to my routine.

Hi Sue,I did well food wise, maybe my cornbread was a larger slice and other than that I did well. The day after, emotions up the wazoo, missing the people who have passed in my family...so too much cornbread, and a dump. I am ok now though. Thanks for asking sweetness.
Hugs!

This past week has been my first bump in the road since my surgery a little over a year ago.  But I will get through it.  Because I can.  I have gained about 3 or 4 pounds above where I want my maximum to be.  So, no junk for a few days.  Eat less for a few days.  Drink a lot for a few days.  And I will be back where I want to be.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
