What's New Wednesday 12/24/08?

morning debbie and all !
i am freezing --we drove home from findlay on solid ice last nite- at 15-18 mph! the 38 mile trip was quite long let's just say!!! got home had some quick supper and immediately went to bed at 9 pm...

today i work til 330 and then home to my sweetie- am thinking nap before dinner!yesterday; we had teh window open at work again-brrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

no plans  for us- some phone calls tomorrow ...

maybe i'll get to write more later-

Good morning!!!!!  And Christmas Eve Gift to you!!!!  (That was something my grandma use to say on Christmas eve.  Whomever said it first was suppose to get a gift on Christmas Eve.  I sure miss her and so many others.)  I have got to get up and get started cooking and cleaning.  I have most things ready, but I have to make a red velvet cake, carrot cake, cheese ball and then finish what I can for dinner tomorrow.  I have a few more gifts to wrap also.  I have got to get up and get with it.  I am sooooooo lazy this morning being off work and just sitting here drinking my coffee.  You have a great great day!!!!

Happy Christmas Eve....

Have a rather uneventful day today.....decided not to go into work as there wasn't anything for me to do....will cost me $$ as I won't get paid, but rather not sit there and do nothing and expect to be paid for it.

Otherwise, nothing special going on.....have to mix up the cinnamon rolls for neighbor Bette, they are refrigerator rolls, then will bake them early tomorrow morning for their breakfast.....she has a houseful of family, so they will get the whole batch.

Tonite I have bell practice at 6:15, then play at the
7 p.m. service.....

DS called about 7 pm to let me know they got to the U.P.
....took them 7 1/2 hrs ....normally would have made it in 6 hrs.  He said the roads were particularly bad around Grand Rapids.

I went thru all five boxes of my embroidery floss last evening and filled the ones that were low, and made a list of those I need to get more of....only just a few.  Have a couple projects that need to be finished from last year, so am going to work on them.

so that's my boring day.....trying not to get down.  Maybe brother Steve will call but I'm not going to drive anywhere.   It's about 35 degrees here this morning, and may get some rain this afternoon.

Hello Deggie and Everyone on OFF,
It's 10 below here this morning but It is supposed to warm up to 17 above and tomorrow is going to be even warmer.
I have been sick for almost four weeks. I have finally kicked that virus out and am feeling so much better which is good because I have to cook Christmas Day for 17 people. Besides family,  I am looking forward to seeing old friends. I decided to have a mini reunion this Christmas of friends from the 70s. I was surprised I got so many coming tomorrow but really excited too. Some I haven't seen for 25 years.
Since I last posted we have  had three blizzards and some very cold weather---it was 26 below here last week with 40 below wind chill.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. Thanks all for being there. You are all special.

I'm at work and trying to get lots done before I run out of motivation.  Should be a fairly quiet day and that will allow for accomplishment you would think.

I'm ready for Christmas to begin.  Everything is wrapped and over at my son's house for tomorrow.  Tonight I make deviled eggs, potatoes au gratin, and green bean casserole.  In the fridge and ready to go tomorrow.  This is the first year I haven't baked a cookie.  What a different feeling to not have trays of cookies for all the neighbors and friends.  They will understand I'm sure.  True friends are just that - true friends.

I wish each and every one a joyous Christmas Eve and may it be filled with peace and value.  Keeping you all in thought and prayer.

My son has moved safely back to California and I will drive to Kernville to visit with him on Friday.
Have a party with friends tonight and another tomorrow night.  Have succumbed to a few food/drink temptations but have been reminded that only I choose what goes into my mouth (thanks Kathikins).

well i am sitting here half nekkid with color on my hair....got to get rid of the gray ya know...lol looking forward to tonight after work. we talked it over last night and seeing as rick gets out of work at noon...he will cook the turkey today while i am at work and we will have our christmas dinner tonight instead of tomorrow. nobody is coming tomorrow so we figured why not have it tonight instead. this way we can sleep in and not have to rush around cooking and all...i am sure he will want to open gifts tonight also...LOL nope not gonna do that...well maybe i will let him open one or two....wish i could remember what box has what in it...LOL his mom still hasn't shown up with the replacement gifts she said she got last saturday. so this will be interesting to see if she really did get it replaced!!

the weather here is terrible!! got alot of ice last night and now its melting and what a mess out there!!! lots of standing water and just nasty!!! hope this is all over with atleast until AFTER the weekend so i can drive safely to and from michigan!!! i want to see my mom so bad!!! and i know she wants to see me even more.

got the brownies made last night for the potluck at work today. rick wanted to try them...lol i said no!! they are for work!! he said well you never make them for here...soooo guess i will have to get more and make them for him.

also last night we talked about the new year coming u***** is going to cut back on his smoking and drinking!!!! YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! not sure what i am going to give up...oh yeah...the sweets and junk foods i have been into!!!! lol we are going to save up for a vacation to the carolinas!!! he loves it there and has a buddy that lives near raleigh and we will be staying there while in the area. looking forward to that trip. actually looking forward to him cutting back on drinking beer and smoking more!!!! i hate the smell of cigarette smoke every where!!! but i put up with it because i love him...;)

well got the color washed out of my hair...looks good. no change in color but the gray is gone now...my hair sure is growing fast!! is it the change in living area or is it the water?? or maybe all the vitamins i am taking?? (when i remember to take them??) not sure what it is but wi**** would be thicker!!! i hate this thin baby fine hair i have always had!!! grrrr

debbie g...i am sorry that i can't open the card you sent to me in email...ricks pc freezes up and i can't open it...but thankyou for the thought of sending it to me!!!

no update on my ex...far as i know he is still the same.

oh!! one of the girls i work with her mother had breast cancer surgery last week and also had reconstructive surgery at the same time. this was her second go round with breast cancer. they found out yesterday that she has a cancer that is invasive and strong possibility its spread. they aren't sure yet. so if i could have you all send a prayer or two up for her it would be greatly accepted!!! will keep you posted on her when i find out more.

well better get dressed now and pick things up around here so we can have a nice clean house for tonight. so again   everyone!!!!

Merry Christmas, Debbie, and OFFers! Well, it sure looks Christmas-y here in southern WI. Still snowing, 14" Fri, 2" Sat, 4" yesterday and 5" expected today. Over 40" so far in Dec alone. We normally only have 50" for the whole season. We thought last year was a 'once in a 100 years' fluke when we got 101" for the year. We are now ahead of last year's Dec snowfall.  There is so much that in Milwaukee, they're hauling it and dumping it in the Milw Brewers baseball stadium!  Running out of space to plow it out of the way. Never again will I be sad if we don't have a white Christmas.

The family has actually canceled our Christmas Eve celebration tonight at Mom's because she doesn' t want us out driving in this stuff. It is supposed to be sunny tomorrow so we'll have a glorious Christmas Day here at my house. So at least I have a little more time to straighten up the house and get my treats and dinner prepared and ready for tomorrow. Gifts are wrapped except for one. Somehow it will all get done, and I can veg out on Fri and play with my new Blackberry, . Or shop online, .

Carla here sitting for a short minute. I am doing better a little bit. I just got back from the Dr office and they didnt remove the drain yet. Probably Friday.
they took the whole thyroid and 3 lymph nodes. Still not sure if it is cancer or not.
So today I am laying low and watching chick flicks.
Sent carl out to get some sherbet and some other stuff.
