What's Up Tuesday!
Good Tuesday morning everyone.
Hmm, puppies, retirement, cars, Christmas shopping, snow! It's exciting here today!
Yesterday I went to get our Christmas turkey. Wanted a 10 ponder, wound up with a 12 pound 'fresh one'. It says fresh, but it sure feels frozen to me. The smallest frozen one was 18 pounds!
Later my DH had a great idea for a gift for our DIL. As I was getting ready to head to WalMart to pick it up, she stopped by. She said, she had some things to get at Walmart and would love to go along with me. So off we went and I got 3 things I didn't REALLY need, and didn't get the gift for her! The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent with our son, DIL and 2 grandsons. No chance to get back to Wally World. So I will be going this morning.
The last 2 weeks our temps have been 50's to 70's. This morning - 24!!! I'll wait til it warms up a little before I go out! But no snow! My Sis lives in NY, our daughter in OR, a son in AK, all have tons of snow and ice. I LOVE NC!!
Everyone have a fantabulous Tuesday!
Nancy, you made my mouth water. Pre-wls good bread with herb or garlic flavored oil was one of my favorites! Sorry Derek is so stressed with work. My older son's job is a different kind of stress this time of year - so many holiday parties to cater, but thank God business is good. Unfortunately my younger son is also busy at work - ER nurse. So when he's busy, it's bad news for someone else. Daughter is not working, hoping to get a teaching job at the University this coming semester. Well, I shouldn't really say she's not working as she's a stay-at-home-mom, always cleaning or cooking something. She's made all her Christmas gifts this year. Gabe "helped" her make dough ornaments for his teachers and the neighbors to include in gift baskets of homemade pumpkin bread, cookies, candy, cocoa mix, etc.
All my gifts are bought or made, and wrapped. Now it's just a matter of putting everything in the baskets. This year I made spice rub for meat, potato seasoning mix (to sprinkle on French fries or oven roasted potatoes, and a beefy-onion rice mix. I'll include a can of mixed nuts and a box of candy in each basket. One of my neighbors is a big Saints fan, for her I found a cute snowman ornament. His body is a tiny football that has NFL, New Orleans Saints written on it and he's wearing a crystal black and gold scarf.
I believe this is the first year I'm not making hundreds of cookies and several batches of fudge. Time is short with the new job, planning and packing for London, and everything else going on. Besides, I "had" to buy two tubs of frozen cookie dough from each grandson's school fund raisers, and George got suckered into buying one from his supervisor's daughter's school. I know, TMI! Time to wrap it up!
Tomorrow will be spent cleaning house and cooking a few dishes to take to my sister's for Christmas. Don't know if I'll have time between now and Christmas to post, so I wanted to wish all my OFF sisters and brothers a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hugs and love, Debbie

I hope Eileen and Carla have speedy recoveries.
Nancy that e-card was cute. Those singing Reindeer. lol
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Have fun and be safe. Especially everyone with snow, walk carefully. No slips, falls or broken bones please.
It's just cold here and we won't have any snow. We may get rain Friday.Yuk. The old arthritis will be acting up if it rains.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Teresa M.
\Nancy I just love old houses. We used to have an arts and crafts bungalow that I adored. It was a huge maintenence issue and too small once we had our kids so we sold it about 20 years ago but I still think of it fondly. I truly believe in ghosts. We have a couple of them at the hospital I work in. I have seen one and have seen the antics of the other. Only heard about the third one. I have never seen them give anything back however. You might need to get more gloves.
George I hop eyour grandbeagle gets better. Sick puppies like sick kids are so sad.
Janet I hate wrapping presents. I used to love it and even wrapped my own when I was a kid after my mom taped the box shut. I loved to spend lots of time and make them really pretty and artistic. I guess it is the time that is different now. I have so little of it and everyone is just going to rip it off anyway. I invested in bags this year to make it quicker. I keep thinking that one year I will sew up some drawstring bags in Christmas fabric and make reusalbe (green) gift wrap. It seems much more economical and better fro the enivronment. It is just that time thing again!
Margo--my work is usually very interesting since I am a nurse and no two days are the exact same. And working with people is usually rewarding and always unpredicatble. Well since my surgery they have pulled me out of the clinical area and my task now is to decrease (somehow) the amount of money we are spending preventing falls. Now, falls definitely can't increase. We can't have patients hurting themselves. I just have to figure out how to do that for less money. Now somedays are boring as all get out as I do research on the computer. BLAH!
Annette, that is so sweet of you to take your client out somewhere nice. My son is currently being woo'd by geology companies. He is a senior in college. He calls me and is so excited when he gets to eat somewhere nice. He is so broke some weeks he lives on cheese sandwiched and ramen noodles. A change is a real treat.
A new car is a wonderful thing Connie. Congratulations.
My big worry today is the trip my SIL has to make from Chicago to Kansas City. They got 12 inches of snow Thursday and are expecting another 6 inches tonight. We are expecting 4 inches to start sometime tonight. He is driving from Chicago to our house starting tomorrow morning. It is about an 8 hour drive in good weather. Since my daughter flew home on Saturday he is driving by himself except for the granddog. He had a migraine the other day and still is not feeling up to par. I am so worried about the weather for him. He couldn't leave earlier because he just started a new job at a law firm and the office is going to be open tomorrow. He has no vacation yet.
Have a Merry Christmas and everyone be safe!
Cheryl
