Plateaus
Anyone else heard of this
Before WLS I had tried to lose weight several different ways.
This is the way plateau's were explained to me. When you yo-yo diet and you stop dieting your body sets itself at a new set-point. Then every time you try to lose weight and you hit those new set points on your way down the scales the body resists you losing more at those set-points. And you will need make changes to bust through those set-points.
It is like the body's natural defense mechanicism.
Well at first I thought that was a lot of BS ~ and when I first heard it I went ~~ yeah, yeah, yeah and blew it off.
However, this time when I am not trying to DIET!! I have kept track of my plateau's and sure enough every old set point is EXACTLY were I have a plateau and if I do do something different at that time ~~ less calories, more protein, more excercise, whatever I finally break through the plateau.
Just went through one it hung on for about 3 weeks and I remembered this old advice started changing things up and have lost 6lbs in 4days.
Remarkable!!

I have been stuck for three weeks ,almost four. I am only seven weeks out so it is really frustrating to me. I know I am not eating to much. I do struggle getting all my liquids in but I am ok on my protein. I am not exersicing like I should and do not know how to make myself do more. I have lost 31 pounds since starting my liquid diet. I expected it to be easier than this in the begining. I should have know better. I haven't given up hope yet. If I don't see some results soon I will be very frustrated. I still need to lose 75 more pounds. I can say if I had just been dieting I would have given up and started eating again so at least I know I will not gain these pounds back this time.
Maybe you are not eating enough (calorie wise) and your body is in starvation mode, and trying to hibernate. Try adding more calories by adding protein shakes. You can get more than 100 grams of protein if necessary to fool the body and allow it to start losing weight again.
