Poppyseed Salad Dressing Recipe?
In the past week or so, someone (sorry, I can't remember who) posted on Linda's daily eating thread about a great salad they had served with homemade poppyseed dressing.
I've tried to make poppyseed dressing several times and it never tasted as good as the stuff I've had in restaurants. So I have this bottle of poppyseeds. I'd like to serve spinach salad with poppyseed dressing on Christmas Day.
Anybody have a good recipe?
Thanks,
Jean

Jean: I have a recipe I have used for years for Poppyseed Dressing and use it on spinach salad or Bibb Lettuce/Oranges/Red Onion Salad.
3/4 C. Olive oil or Veg. Oil (I use light Olive Oil)
1/3 C. Honey
1/4 C. Red wine vinegar
2 TBLS Poppyseeds
1 TBLS finely chopped white onion
1 TBLS Dijon mustard
1/2 TSP Salt
Combine all in food processor or blender and process 30 seconds...keep in fridge. Take out and serve at room temp.
Stir before adding to salad.
Makes about 1 1/3 Cups.
That sounds soooo good. I am not able to eat lettuce or raw veggies yet but am looking forward to it
I hope you find a recipe your like.
Hugs and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.

Sandy,
Oh, thank you! That sounds yummy, and I already have all the ingredients on hand.

Hi Jean,
It was me.......this is a recipe from our church camp in Arcadia, Michigan....their recipes are outstanding.
3/4 cup sugar (or use part splenda)
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 cup oil (I used canola)
6 tbsp. vinegar (I used red wine vinegar)
2 tbsp. poppy seeds
Place all ingredients except poppy seeds in blender
(I actually chopped the onion in there first), and blend for a full 5 minutes, then add poppy seeds. The mixture will be warm. Drizzle over baby spinach.
I added a can of drained mandarin oranges, 1/4 cup slivered almonds toasted, and a few bacon bits to the salad and then drizzled on the dressing and tossed.. It was a big hit. Store left over dressing in refrigerator and heat slightly in the microwave before using again.
Enjoy!
