What's New Friday, Today December 19th!!!!!
Early Happy Birthday Carla (in case I forget tomorrow), Happy Anniversary Jan. And HELLO to my fellow OFFers!
Great night last night. Went to another Stars game. Great game. Won 6-5 in overtime shootout. 3 decent fights, a lot of goals. Quite the opposite of the other night when it was 2-1 final in overtime and no one even looked at each other crosseyed. That is decent when a team can play both styles, depending on the style of the opponent.
I am probably boring you gals, sorry.
Only worked 4 hours last night, will be going home in one hour. I will sleep about 4 or 5 hours max, then get ready for my part time job's Christmas party. I am bringing Pumpkin Mousse. I will tell them later it is sugarfree. After work, I will need to go home and start my Boston Cream pie for Christmas Dinner tomorrow. Thinking about it now, I may measure out all the dry ingredients this afternoon when I get up and be ready to rock and roll as soon as I get home from work.
Will be VERY BUSY tomorrow, but will try to stop by for a quick visit. Breakfast with an OH group, grandkids coming to our house to see our decorations, gift exchange and Christmas dinner at son's house, OH TMB Holiday party at night., then the afterparty (which I may skip out on). I am getting tired just seeing this.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Happy Birthday and best wishes for your surgery Carla. Annie sends her love too.
Eileen - we are sending you love and good thoughts for a successful surgery also.
My friend Angela and I have been going out to lunch every week for about 7 years. She was always considerate of the physical limitations imposed by my weight. (She is a normal sized person)
We had to park on the 5th floor of the parking garage yesterday. Before WLS it would have been unspoken that we would have to take the elevator to the ground floor and then back up. Yesterday we walked!
About 1/2 way up, Angela paused to rest and began to laugh. SHE was out of breath, not me. My dear friend enjoyed the fact that I can now walk without effort or pain. Me too
Kisses
Annette

A big SHOUT OUT OF HAPPINESS at your WOW MOMENT!! I love that you can walk up five flights of stairs these days. I never cease to be grateful when I do something like that, too. One of our elevators is down..the one closest to my condo, and in the past I would have walked all the way down to the 2nd one.....a long ways.....to avoid the stairs. Now I zip up and down the 3 flights without missing a breath. I am thankful!!
Big hug to you sister!
Aloha nui loa,

Good morning Carla and my OFFer's
Happy, Happy Birthday, Carla!!!! I hope this next year bring you all the joy you deserve. I know you must be very anxious to get this surgery behind you, but we are all here for you and we're sure you'll be just fine. Easy for us to say, huh? Good luck on the new job, sorry, I guess I missed your posting about leaving the current one. You'll have to fill me in!
Brenda, glad you went to the surgeon, but to echo Annette, PLEASE don't wait too long to get this taken care of.
Jan, Happy Anniversary to you! And George, happy that your team won the game.
Another exciting day in Saint Bella-land. Tess called me in a panic, what do we have left in stock there at the house? Seems they've sold almost everything they had at the store yesterday, so I stripped the shelves and will take it in as soon as I can today. When I got home I set straight to work mixing up the products for two more gift baskets that were ordered at the salon. WOW!!!!! Can you say cautiously optimistic? I just now starting to think this thing will really work. We still haven't gotten our e-store open due to Tess's surgery and all, and it's a good thing. We might not have had the product available to take back to her store if we did. First of the year though.
Ice on Tuesday, rain and a high of 67 today. Life is a roller coaster, and not just with the weather!!
Hugs and smoochies to all.....gotta go get ready for my day at the salon.
Margo.....good work with the knitting. I still have to finish Tess's scarf. Might skip the symphony tonight to do it.

Happy Birthday Carla, Happy Anniversary Jan!
Spokane got record snow, 30 inches in some areas! WOW! Suppose to snow a little more today and then another storm coming Sunday. We are used to snow but not that much! It was weird seeing so many businesses closed. All the school districts closed. Lots of call ins at work.
Really cold today, 14 right now. Suppose to get into the single digits, better than the minus ones! I feel like I'm in MN or something!
Don't have Christmas stuff finished...hope to get that done this weekend.
Thinking of you Eileen.
Glad to hear you saw the doc Brenda.
Wow, Susan, your business sounds like it is getting exciting!
Take Care all,
Cheryl

Hey Carla,
A girl after my own heart, sounds like you did score pretty good at the Goodwill. Good for you!!!!!!!!!!! We can't even shovel yet today, it is a blizzard out there. My DH was supposed to go to a guy breakfast with my BIL and my dad, then for a drive out to Goodrich so my BIL could look at houses for sale. I guess there will be none of that. Go ahead sweetie, rub it in, I would too!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs, Phyllis

Hi Carla, the birthday girl, and everyone! Well, it's a WAH day for me, working at home! Having a terrible blizzard, already at 7" and getting another 5" by noon and a few more by 3PM with 40mph winds. Couldn't tell the difference between the driveways and the road this AM! Not plowed yet. No tiretreads in the neighborhood. No one is moving. Plus it's a 50 min commute, even on a good day! Tue at rush hour it snowed and it took me 3 hours to get home. So I'll stay home today. Our computers at work are all notebooks so it is [far] too easy for them to expect us to work at home evenings and weekends, even if not a snow day, LOL. They put the network connection software on the computer so it is easy to connect to the co. network and work from home or on the road. Enough said.
I'm just about done with my Christmas shopping. Maybe a gift card or two left. Some are still in transit for delivery today, but I doubt that UPS will be able to get here. Wonder if they'll do Saturday deliveries tomorrow given conditions today. I bought my Dad a digital photo frame and am copying lots of photos to the flash card. I thought he might enjoy it as he has progressing Alzheimers and the pics of family and pets might jog memories every now and then as he continues to leave us. Mom and I went looking at Alzheimers units last week when I was off because there will be a day she won't be able to be his caretaker anymore. None of us want to think about him in a facility, but it may come to that for his safety and Mom's. He is getting more agitated and abusive to Mom. Not physically yet - throws things but not at her...
And all the wrapping still needs to be done. I always mean to wrap as I get them but I ALWAYS end up doing a marathon wrapping while watching a Christmas DVD, LOL. I bought 2 Blu Ray versions this year to replace older DVDs - Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story. Can't wait to see them in Blu Ray HD on my 50" plasma TV, especially where the Griswold's house lights up like a, um, Christmas tree!
So, I'm off now until Jan 5. Hope to get a lot done in the house like finally hanging the drapes in the bedroom and guest room, hanging new towel bars with matching TP holders and switch plates in the baths, and hanging some mirrors and other wall decor.
Gotta run and check my emails at work. Have a great day.

Aloha Carla and OFF family!
Carla.....you have your plate full girl!! Happy birthday, and best of luck on the surgery. My stress level would be pumping, too, with all that you have going. Deep breathe....slowly breathe in calm, breathe out stress!! (I used to use that technique with patients who suffered from anxiety...sometimes it works, sometimes not.)
It is 6:45 a.m. on Maui and another beautiful day on the way. Yesterday I SAW MY FIRST HUMPBACK WHALE OUT IN THE BAY!! That is always such a major happening for each of us here. It makes us realize that winter is actually here......the weather sure wouldn't indicate that. There were actually two "blows" so it was either a mother and baby or a mother and yearling coming back from last year. It is a miracle that never ceases to thrill me and fill me with gratitude for being able to witness it each year.
Today my cleaning angel comes and wow does she have a job. Since my surgery I haven't done much housework so she's getting a double dose. I'm leaving her a nice Christmas bonus and extra cash for making me shine again. It will be lovely to come home to a clean house!
On Wednesday I had my last drain taken out.....YIPPEE!! The doc said my incision (looks like smiley face across my lower belly) is looking great, and took off the tape and just put some strips across it saying that when they fall off, I'm bandage free!! I still have to wear a TIGHT binder every day for the next few weeks....I guess to make sure everything is held in tight until it settles into where it will be permanently. My belly is FLAT! But...it's still a little swollen and I am told it will be for awhile. Strange thing is that I have GAINED WEIGHT since surgery!! I went in at 158 and now weigh 161!! I'm hoping that's water weight....it must be because I haven't changed how I eat.
Christmas is coming way too fast. I am really low key this year.....telling my Calif. kids we'll have Christmas when I'm there in January. I have gifts for my Maui friends but not wrapped yet. After my cleaning angel does her thing today, I think I'll be motivated to finish up.
A friend just called and said "Three whales in the bay!!" We do that with each other even at 7:00 a.m. because we all love them so much. So, I'm going to take my coffee out on the lanai and watch the whales as the sun rises. I wish I could show you all what I will see.
With so much aloha,
Maui Karen
