I think the age limit is 107.  Seriously though, I met a woman who had the surgery at 67 and she couldn't be happier.  I had my surgery at 58 and may now live to see 67.

I thank you for responding too I had first wanted the Lap band but after a lot of research I thought the RNY would be better for me , I just don' t know if I could keep going in for the band to be filled of unfill

Hi Juanita....I had my Lap RNY 4 days after my 66th Birthday (Nov. 19th)  I am 5'7" tall and weighed in at 268.  I am now down to 234 lbs.
I am doing great and life is good and getting better all the time!  I am off 2 of my BP meds, my legs and knees do not ache and I can almost run up and down my stairs now.  Sure I have a ways to go but this is the best thing that I've ever done for myself.  I have had no troubles at all...no vomitting, no dumping but follow my Surgeon's instructions and advice to a tee.  I am trying new foods and different protein supplements.  I can say that I don't like the shakes at all.  I never was one for shakes or malts before the surgery but I am now trying some different kinds of nectar proteins.  So don't worry about your age....if your PCP thinks your a candidate for WLS, GO FOR IT!!

I consider myself lucky to be doing so well.

Sandy  Thank you so much ! I really do want to do this surgery and I have talked to my heart Dr. and pcp and both seem to feel like I would do good .   I have even talked to my lung Dr,  but when I talked to him I was asking about the Lap Band. but after doing alot of rescarch I've decided   that   the RNY would be better for me I really was worried about my age so you made me feel ALOT!!!!!!! better can I put you on my friends list ?
 Thanks again  Juanita
