Hi Eileen and all,
The chair thing is like someone using my hair cutting scissors. You get used to them.
Nothing much going on here. Going to the PCP this afternoon for a preop then going to Lily's to make Potato Pancakes ( Latkes) for Hanukkah.
Tomorrow Carl and I are going to Orlando for the weekend.
My 54th Birthday is Saturday......

Oh Yea, That chair thing would tick me off big time too. We are girding up for a big ice storm, suppose to hit about rush hour this evening. I bet a LOT of people get off early to try and beat the storm home. We are having a Holiday lunch today for work at a fantastic Italian resturaunt, then Ihave 2 stops to make for supplys. I expect to have my car home and tucked away before it gets nasty and I don't have to leave the house until Saturday morning. I was all patting myself on the back for getting 90% of my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving. But this last 10% has really kicked my butt. Now I think I'm done shopping, still have some things tomake and every one keeps calling me" What should Iget Grandma?" "What does so and so want" Do I look like the answer man?? I had to do my own thinking. Have to mail boxes today , I am a few days behind on that but one goes to granddaughter in Texas and even tho I send and send things I have not heard word one from her in over 4 years, every year I say this will be the last time if I don't hear something, but I just can't do that.

I went with Liz to her ultra sound today.. Baby Hunter is 2 pounds 14 ounces !!!! He will be a whopping 3 pounds by next week!! Do You think I may be a tad excited??

I only have an hour and a half to work.. So I had better get to it. Have a wonderful, safe day..

Hi Eileen,
Everyone here at work is very territorial about their chairs.  I've had the same chair the ten years I've worked here.  It's moved everywhere with me . . . first floor, second floor, three different cubicles and in January it's moving with me again to another cubicle.  I'm glad it has held up.  I even use it to move, by wheeling my monitor and PC to the new location in the seat.  I hate when people mess with my chair settings, the nerve! LOL.

I've been trying to be subdued about decorating the office for the holidays.  Tomorrow is the last day for twenty-one of my co-workers.  I and one other guy in my dept. are all that's left.  Even my boss has been moved to three days a week.  It is going to be weird next week.  I have to move from my cubicle because my side of the building is going to be empty and they are going to lease it out. Sigh.

At our home Christmas will also be subdued.  We are having my Mom and Sister over for dinner.  We are not going to our Son and Grands until New Year's.  It doesn't feel much like Christmas this year with so many people out of work, worried about being out of work and worried about money and the economy.  Bill and I are OK but I feel so much for those who are not.

I got the last of the gifts for the grands in the mail yesterday. PHEW. So I'm all set.  Going to get gift cards for Hubby's co-workers tomorrow.  His hip is so painful he can't even make it into the front of the stores to get them himself.  His hip replacement is the same day as everyone has to move to digital television.  They are doing a countdown on the local TV station every night so it's frustrating him being reminded every night that the surgery is still XX days away (last night was 63 days away).

Good morning to you, my sister from another mother. And a top of the morning to all my other OFF family.

The sun is out some this morning but it is cold. But then again it is always cold to me. It is suppose to start raining and then it is suppose to turn into an ice storm. I guess it is suppose to start later on this afternoon. Some are saying that it is going to be in the evening. I hope that it starts later on after Bill gets home from work but the perfect thing would be if it just went right over us and we got nothing at all. I would rather drive in anything but ice. It scares me and I panic.

I go to the surgeon this afternoon at 3:30. The problem hasn't been much of a problem the last few days. I am glad about that. I did find another spot the other day. I have had pain there before but I never noticed anything. The other night I noticed a spot that pooched out and I asked Bill if it was there. He felt it and said yes it was there. I  always ask him since I think at times I am just paranoid. Oh well, what are you going to do except make sure the doctor looks at it all and I shall let him do what he needs to do. I may not like it but I don't like a lot of things I must do.

I missed all of you yesterday. I went to the church and helped out at the office and then I took my niece Christmas shopping. It was like when she was little and would call me and say "Will you take me Christmas shopping, Auntie?". I miss those days. When I would tell her yes the next question was "When?". Now she is 28 with a daughter of her own. How things change and yet at times stays the same. I did get Bill one present yesterday. I am so clueless as to what to get him this year. I am not sure what the problem is but it is what it is. At least he has one. I got him a pair of Chicago Bears flannel sleep pants. He is very much a Bears and a White Sox fan. They had the Sox but they weren't in his size.

I guess I had better get going. I have things to do and places to go and people to see. Yeah right! I am sending love and hugs to all and special prayers are going up for everyone. Make sure you all smile and show the Christmas spirit to others. It may be the only happiness they have in their life today.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I am missing all my OFF friends. Glad you all seem to be doing okay.

Prayers to those in need.

hello, all ! i played hooky today- so much for having the day after Christmas off from work! i decided at 530 this morning that for peace of mind i needed today to get packages out etc more than to be home the day after!!!
sooooo--- had to wrap everything and find boxes and shipping tape and etc...by 1pm and way too much money later, i had my 4 packages mailed- 1 to Texas, 1 to Wisconsin, 1 to Michigan and 1 to Florida-- i might get some cards out later tonite but the packages were a must!!
after the post office, we went back to michael's PT-he had forgotten his cell phone- don't ask me how-his story didn't make much sense to me! so we went to the dollar general and i picked up bones for my dogs so they each have one and some stocking stuffers for the grands -my daughter bought 5 stockings and asked each of us to bring some things to put in ....she is getting excited about hosting our holiday celebration this year!!!

now i am back in my jammies and i have personalized the 3 cookbooks for my kids- when i worked at Sky Insurance, we ( the employees of the three offices) published a cookbook and donated profits to the American Cancer Society- these were sposed to be for last Christmas but somehow got lost between my last day of work in may and our family celebration in january --so! this year i have written a note inside and put some notes by the family favorites that are in print! a great reminder of the kids' one gramma (now deceased)and their aunt fran....i hope that they enjoy! and i now have to get back to that darned scarf!!!!  i sat last nite determined to knit for hours and did but it is only about 1/3 done! and tomorrow nite is a waste buy the time we get home from plasma and some shopping--he is freecycling a newer washing machine tomorrow so we will be struggling with the car!!!(next week it's a king sized mattress set-goodness knows how that will work ontop of  the car but it will give us some room in the bed!!!)

toledo area is sposed to get all of that nasty weather-ice and maybe 4-10 inches of snow--so that means debbie g--praying she gets home safely tonite! i kindof doubt we will get much where i am--and have not heard the weather for judy g--- ...where i go for plasma tomnorrow nite might get some of it too-meaning melissa ????? we'll see....

glad to see connie is safely at her grands!!!

margaret...gosh snow angels--when we were little girls we actually got snow in winter- white pretty snow--i have very fond memories of playing in the feet of snow- some game with my dad (something about a goose) and then angels-and tunnelling and sledding  ice skating-you are right- we would play for hours and hours!!rosy cheeks and hot cocoa afterwards!!!

well- i am not getting my knitting done this way!!! procrastination IS my middle name donchaknow!!!!

hugs and prayers..............

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo:

One package to mail out today: $27.46 to send to my friend Margie in South Dakota ... and that was with 15% off. Wow, that was one big package. I told PakMail (shipping place) they needed an automatic door ... it's hard to open the door with a package in your hand. Hmmm, that's an idea, the guy said. I remember going there when I had hurt my right knee falling over the wrapping paper just before Christmas and I had to ship everything to my family ... I was on crutches and had to ask for help to get everything in the door. Yes, this right knee has seen its share of injuries.

Good afternoon to everyone!
Eileen-I only work in an office about once per week. the rest of the time I am in a nursing unit. When I get to my office I sometimes can't even find my chair. They move it and don't move it back. I hate that!

Kathi-- I wi**** was 46 here. It has been so cold and I can't blame it on losing weight as I haven't lost that much yet. We got snow on Tuesday and now they are prediciting an ice storm. I hope I get home before it hits.

Like so many other people I seem to be running very behind on my Christmas preparations. I still have a few presents to buy, a tree to put up and baking to do. I need to really clean my house before everyone descends upon me on Wednesday. My husband is trying to get our front room painted before then. Thats why I don't have the tree up. I keep telling myself that none of this truly matters because we are all going to be together this Christmas. Last year neither of my kids could come home and I had to work both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Just doing Christmas Eve this year.

I don't remember being this short on cash very many Christmases in the past. There is no overtime to be worked and they are cutting hours. I should be thankful that I have a job. My hospital just laid off 65 people. No nurses but I can't help but think of all those people losing their jobs here at Christmas.

Hope everyone stays warm and safe today.
Cheryl
