What's New Thursday?

Hi My OFF Family:

Went to check my payroll deposit ... not there, and boy, do I need it ... can't get much deeper in the hole without having nothing left to spend. Things are very desperate this week. Luckily, next week I'll be in the hospital so I won't be able to be out spending money. Hah! I still know how to spend sitting at home. Well, I'll have a bigger check next week because I'll have some overtime from Saturday, although the two vacation days won't help.

Crazy night at work ... first, I get there and my chair is all the way to the floor (I have a slightly broken chair ... it needs two people to pull it back up ... otherwise, it's a very good chair.) It was fine when I left, and I have a sign on my chair telling people who use it not to adjust it because of this fact (and the fact I have a bad back and it is adjusted just for me ... once someone readjusted the lumbar settings and I was in pain for a week before I could get it fixed). This time, I had to recruit someone to pull the back up while I pull the bottom down to get the chair readjusted. Couldn't sit that long in that hole.

Then things kept changing on the "budget" of news on business ... Chrysler's problems with shutting down their plants, etc. And our ad department screwed up and gave us a full-page ad where they didn't have one sold, so we had to figure out what to do with that extra space. My boss decided a little extra news was nice to have, and we had someone available to work that space.

Haven't seen the return of the bat today, but I am so wary ... I walked into the house tonight looking around every dark corner ... even asked the cats if they had a "visitor". They didn't answer, just meowed their usual greetings.

Well, I have an early morning appointment with my psychologist today so I want to get to bed. Have a good day. I'll check back later.

Good morning Eileen, et al.

Fairly good day for me.  Non-eventful.

Going to another Stars game tonight, so I will be scarce in the overnight hours.

Later.

Hi Eileen,

Glad to hear no bats at your house when you came home!  That's a very good thing.  I keep saying prayers your surgery will help you.

Still have my cold.  The cough doesn't seem to want to give way.  Broke down with some cough syrup as I was desperate to rest better last night.  Our weather was big news yesterday as the car said the temperature at 2:30 in the afternoon was 46 degrees. That's very, very cold for Southern California.  I came in and promptly got warm clothes on and plugged in the heating pad.  Skinnier me is actually cold this year!  Something new. Ain't it grand?

Hope everyone had a great Thursday.

Hugs,

Kathi

Hi Eileen,

So glad you didn't have any more visitors last night!  The chair thing....why do people DO that??  I kind of think it's like " if it's not yours, don't mess with it" sort of thing. Especially since it's semi-broken and it takes two to readjust.

George, uneventful is a nice thing sometimes, isn't it?

Today is my regular day off but I'm going in for a few hours to make up for not being able to get there on Tuesday. I absoutely love the people I work with, but with our massage therapist being treated for a reoccurance of brain cancer and another co-worker's father terminal it's hard to be cheery. Now I understand the owner's SIL my have pancreatic cancer. Good Lord, will it ever end?  But, we must put on a happy face for the clients. No need to bring them down this time of the year.

Saint Bella is steaming along. Yesterday I had a client order 6 gift sets to be picked up next week when she comes in for her appointment. Yipee!!!!  I just keep restocking and giving the owner invoices, and she just keeps writing checks. So cool!

Ok, I'm off to get ready. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. See ya later!

Good Thursday morning Eileen and OFF!
well today should be a better day anyway!  I can do so much more now then I could before and am in better shape but let me tell you, 6 hours the other day of pounding concrete floors just about did me in!  I was sore from head to toe!
My eating habits are slipping.  I KNOW and am preparing in my mind that the first starts the NEW year and some weight loss for me and getting back to basics.  My clothes still fit (more or less) but I do want to lose about 15 lbs at least and get back to where I felt better.  It will happen.  I have to admit to not being good about exercise lately either.
We have snow, at least I did shovel part of the driveway last evening.  appears we got about 3-4 inches of it.  They talked about freezing rain last night but that didn't happen - THANK goodness!  It was horrible Tuesday night. I left the hospital at about 5:15, stopped at $4 and drove home, roads were slick - the snow had started  by then.  Remebered as I was half way home I had left my debit card at $4.  The dogs hadn't been outside since 7 or so....roads bad.....taking forever to get home. I kept heading west towards home.  I prepared to call them and already had a message from them saying they wanted me to call them, they kept it over night in their safe so I had a $4 yesterday morning stop too!  ahhhh, safe and sound back in my purse!
I suppose I should get to work.  I really am looking forward to next weeks 3 days off paired with the weekend.  I still need to get groceries for Christmas dinner, but going to Giant Eagle will earn fuel perks and getting gas last week for .19/gallon was pretty dog gone cool!
Have a great Thursday all!

Good morning Eileen and all,

Well, we have had 15-18 inches of snow! Started yesterday around 7am and has not stopped! They are saying it is to keep snowing maybe till tomorrow. Just about all the schools are closed, but I'm sure my job is not giving snow days.

Edited to say WE HAVE TWO FEET OF NEW SNOW!!!!

My mom called me at work and my dad is in the hospital with an infection in his Colon. He gets regular blood transfusions and often infections are caused by them. Last time we almost lost him to an infection in his spine...by the time they figured out what was wrong, after several weeks, it was almost too late. He was in the hospital for 3 months. Hope they get it under control. Had to get mom and take her home. It took 1 1/2 hours to travel 3 miles last night.

I tried shoveling a path for our doxie as the snow was way over his head....too funny...not sure if he did his business but am hoping he did.

Well, you all have a good day and stay warm and safe.

P.S. I hate when people screw with my chair!!!!!

Cheryl

Good Thursday everyone!

My DH and I both woke up around 2:30 AM and couldn't get back to sleep.  So we were up before 3:30.  Too early for breakfast, so we decided to go to WalMart and get the last minute things I need for Sat Christmas Party.  WHY do I take him to the store?  Why do we go hungry?  Spent WAY too much money!

Came home and put up the additional decorations I bought and didn't really need.  But they do look good.  My DH got cinnamon rolls and had those for his breakfast.  Thank God I can't eat bread!.  But I did lick some of his frosting!

The rest of the day will be putting up tables for the party, and getting everything ready.  My son will bring the tables over at lunch.  And making LISTS!!!  I LOVE lists!.

Another lovely warm day here.

Good Morning All

I was off work yesterday and today (because I work double shifts Tues and Fri), and was all set to have my beautiful French doors installed on the Family Room.  I was going to cook and freeze meals for my son as part of his Christmas gifts, make cookie dough (to be baked when there's someone in the house to monitor my weakness...), and clean out the spare bedroom for my son, which is unfortunately a catch-all most of the time.

Well, I got the cooking done, started on the bedroom, made pizzelles, and was very disappointed that the contractor cancelled at the last minute.  Now I have to wait for the doors till after the first of the year, and have to jockey my schedule so the new floors get put in first.

I am NOT happy!

But, rather than ***** and moan and yell and argue, I accepted the delay with surprising grace for me, and turned on some Christmas music and puttered all day yesterday and will continue to do the same today.

What has HAPPENED to me???  This is NOT my normal reaction when things don't go my way!  I'm becoming a kinder, gentler version of the crazy lady that I always was.  I did let the store know that I was unhappy in no uncertain terms, and probably got a bigger discount for my inconvenience, but I didn't yell, or argue, or slam or break things after I got off the phone.  Ten years ago I would have done all that and more.

I'm mellowing!  Especially these last few years.  I'm finding that I don't need to control everything anymore.  I think when I was so overweight and I had no control over that, that I felt the need to control everything else.  I don't need that control anymore.  I'm disappointed, and unhappy with the store, but these things happen, and that's OK.  Weird....

But nice.

So, today is another lazy day.  I'll get a lot done, but as long as it's at home and not at work, I'm happy.  I'll cook some more, do a little baking, finish cleaning the spare room, maybe read a little.  I found a bunch of yarn that's been around forever, that I'm not going to use, and contacted a friend who knits hats for adults and kids with chemo related hair loss, and will drop it off to her today.  Have to pick up a few more groceries, and will probably make a few phone calls.  I like to think I'll get a few Christmas cards out, but I know myself better than that.  I always have good intentions, and I love getting cards from others, but I never seem to get in the mood to send my own.

I hope everyone has a good day, and is where they want to be this week before Christmas.

Morning Eileen,

I know what your saying about the chair thing, my DH and I have that little discussion quite often about the seat in the car. As you know my husband is taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall with long legs. I am short, with short legs, each of us are guilty of not placing the seat back where it should be after we have used it . I know it is irksome though, when you are expecting your chair to be at the position you left it.

WE HAVE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been rainy here for a while and with two dogs with huge feet, I have had a muddy, dirty house.  It snowed on Tuesday, just enough to make it look very pretty and just enough to give my dogs cleaner feet.  I live on an old street and the view from my bedroom window looks like a Currier and Ives print.   I was raised in an area similar to this (just a few blocks away) and I think that the snow and the winter scene take me back to memories of playing outside all day long with my friends.  My cheeks were always pink and my hair always frizzy from the snow, and I loved every minute of making snowmen, angels and licking icicles (ewww  -  I must have eaten lots of germs).  My childhood was not pretty in many ways, but I do have some good memories.
I work today and tomorrow and then I am off until January 5  -I think that I already told you that  -  I'm not bragging, just very, very happy.
I've been thinking about Connie and hoping that she made it safely to her destination.  We usually have  one bad winter storm here and I hate driving in unsafe conditions where I can't even see out the windshield.  Hopefully, Connie is safe and sound and enjoying her family.
I am divorced with no kids and my family is distant emotionally, so I will spend Christmas Eve with friends and then Christmas Day with my two fur kids.  I sometimes feel a great deal of loneliness on Christmas Day, but I try to think of it as just another day, but I have to say that I'm glad when it's over.  I don't usually tell people about the difficulties I face at Christmas, but I guess that I feel comfortable enough here to share with my OFF family.  I hope that I am not a "downer" for anyone.
I have volunteered on Christmas Day at a local church hall where we make a free dinner for people and I will probably do the same this year.  It keeps me busy.
Well, I'd better get to work.  Have a great day!
