Gallbladder Update

So I'm scheduled for gallbladder surgery January 13th.  Also an EGD and a liver biopsy.  I guess he want's to scope my innerds and check everything out.  The liver biopsy was troubling to me at first but I guess it's often routine with gallbladder surgery.  For those of you *****plied to my first post about my pain and the nurse at my surgeon's office, I GUESS I'M NOT EATING TOO FAST!  hahahahaha

It's okay, I'll be glad to get it over with.  I've been so sick this week I went home early from work on Monday and I've barely been able to eat anything so it will be a relief to get it done.  My only concern is that I'm supposed to go home the same day but with the way I get so sick whenever I have general anesthesia, I don't know how they will be able to boot me out.  So we'll see how it goes.  The nurse who scheduled the surgery said whether I go home same day or not will depend on how I do with the anesthesia.

this is a positive, laura!

many ppl find out that thier livers are "fatty"--when we lose weight quickly that can happen....

i don't do well in anesthesia either--don't worry- if they have to keep you they will...and your health is the important part right now- not the speed in which you get home....i hope!
hugs!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

See if they can do a spinal and "twilight" you ... I don't know if this is possible, but this is what they did in my knee surgery (knee replacement) the last time, and I wasn't as groggy or nauseous when I woke up. You aren't awake (you can be ... Marti O'Leary was for her knee replacements ... I didn't want to be) .. the twilighting is they give you drugs which put you to sleep but aren't general anesthesia. It's much better and "state of the art" in anesthesia, from what I gathered from my last knee replacement. I would recommended it if you are able to get it for the gall bladder.

Glad you found out what was wrong. Sometimes our doctors (or their office staffs) don't listen to us.

I would love to not have general anesthesia.  I wished I could have had it for my RNY too.  We'll see what they say.
