What's New Wednesday? Bats! Ewww!
I was sitting here tonight on the last night of my vacation, watching "Elf" in the dark, enjoying my Christmas lights and decorations, when all of a sudden I saw what I thought was a bird whizzing through the living room and back out. And then there it went again. Finally it came to rest on the front window ... so I went to roust the cats out of their slumber on my bed ... lot of good that did. By that time I saw it was not a bird but a bat ... ewwww!

This time, I called the county dispatch ... the girl there told me there was nothing she could do and told me to turn off all the lights and open the door (it's 19 degrees and snowing) and the bat would go outside ... yeah, right! I told her how cold it was, and the fact I had two bad knees and a bad back (didn't throw in the fact about the bad elbow, too) and the temperature and the snow. So after a few minutes, she promised to send someone out. I could see it had taken refuge on top of the valance in the living room finally (nice and dark) and I tried to get it to move with my broom, but to no avail ... thought about getting the step ladder out to see it but knew that wasn't a good idea. So I waited for the county sheriff's guys ... they came about 15 minutes later and in the meantime Mr. Bat stayed out of the way (and so did the cats, by the way ... lot of protection they provided!)
The two guys who came were very nice and found the bat right away ... trapped him with a Cool Whip container and my diploma (so it did come in handy!) and threw him out into the cold ... then looked around for where he might have come in, but couldn't figure that out. I will have to call the condo association today. Hope he doesn't make a repeat performance later ... I really don't want any more bats flying around here. I offered the officers some cookies but they said no ... they were just happy to help (hope I don't get charged for this ... some communities are charging for nonemergencies ... and emergencies too!)
The rest of my day was pretty boring, and that's the way I like it ... baked cookies, took two naps ... one in the afternoon, one in the evening. I could get used to that! No, I'd get awfully bored. Had to keep reminding myself to clean the litter boxes. Don't want to get too lazy! My light-up deer won't stand up again ... but then we're getting snow again so maybe today I'll be able to get it to stay up. It's supposed to be a really miserable week weather-wise ... concluded with an ice storm Sunday into Monday (oh great, just as I'm trying to get to my surgery ... I don't know what time that is yet, by the way ... they call on Friday usually to let you know).
Well, I want to go to bed and read now. Hopefully, I can relax. I wanted to take some photos of the bat, but my batteries were dying, so I couldn't take anything. Sorry.
Have a good day. Stay warm ... it's cold everywhere. It's 19 right now and snowing ... we're under a winter storm warning here.
Well, here I si****ching the snow fall while Derek tries to get in a few hours of sleep. We are supposed to get alot of snow tonight so he has set his alarm for two am..he has his plows all ready and his salter is loaded and in the shop, keeping warm so the salt doesnt freeze.
I had a quiet day at home for a change..wrapping a few gifts.I sure have been tired alot lately. Had my bloodwork a few weeks ago but still have yet to do my colon cancer test....yup, procrastinating on that one, I admit.
I will be seeing my doctor soon to see what's going on with the constant fatigue lately.
My mandala colouring books are selling and I am thrilled. Ive been asked to send some to several "wellness centres". I have already gotten five themes (nature, love, friendship, faith and wisdom)completed to printing and now I am working six more themes.
When that is done, I am also going to create greeting cards with mandalas and inspirational quotes as well.
LilyRose continues to thrive and is now at five pounds! Our Vet still is amazed that she is alive after having a broken back...he calls LilyRose our MIRACLE KITTEN! She certainly is energetic..she played "Tarzan" on my oldest vine and pulled the entire knitted panel, the lazy-susan and the stained glass bird cage planter including plant, right off the diningroom table! JB insists that LilyRose blamed Katie for the mess. Poor Katie.
As InfoDIVA, I'm planning a "wellness forum" for June 21st , 2009, here in Niagara and inviting participation of alternative modalities such as reflexology, reiki, hypnotherapy, art therapy(me), therapeutic touch, iridology. This will be an educational day to teach people about the OTHER ways of healing.
I also plan to have a Tea Shop corner with herbal teas and special coffees, a vendor/bakery chef who makes amazingly tasty bread with grape skins (trust me, it's delicious and gives you much of the benefits of drinking red wine), a local cheese maker, a local herbal farm and local organic food producers as well as the local native Centre to display drumming, dancing, and sage burning.
Another idea I have is to build a labrynth for meditation outside. Id love to hold a Fire Walk too..perhaps next year...trying to not let the whole thing get too big, too fast.
Im also planning a huge fund raiser for my Business & Professional Women's Club on October 3 at a local winery featuring an amazing motivational speaker and perhaps a few talented ladies for singing and dancing...even pole dancing demo's & belly dancing lessons as well as vendors.
Well, Im headed to my warm bed....play nice, everyone!

Just heard the snow plow guy clean my drive way....there goes another $20! Well, at least it's not as bad as last year, when we had constant snow (at least not yet?).
Good thing I went down to Goshen, In to visit my BFF yesterday....the roads were clean and it was a calm day, it didn't start to snow until around 4:00 here in the p.m.
We had a good visit, exchanged our gifts, and went to a Ponderosa for the lunch buffet......it was okay, but not too much in the way of protein for me....ate a couple meat balls, some "cold" beef stew (which I complained about), and a couple chicken winglets, and a spoonful of crab salad that was yummo. I have an awful habit of talking to people I don't know.....well there was a nice single gentlemen sitting in the next booth and we struck up a conversation......thought I'd never get rid of him....he was still talking to me on the way to the car....
LOL!! He told me he is 84 and retired from a local bank as their CFO! Possibility???
My back tooth fell apart Monday evening.....it's been filled umteen times, and it's one of the anchors for my lower partial.....well, there's not much left of it and it's feeling sore, so tomorrow I guess it's going to be pulled. Yikes. Guess I won't be chewing much for the next few days......that's a good thing, right???
Must get my Christmas projects done by tomorrow noon and in the mail....have a gift certificate to pick up for DIL and then I'm done.
Tonite is bell practice at 6:15, then Advent service, and at 8 p.m. my new small choir will practice for Sunday services.....sure hope they all show up. Called the lady who plays for us, and she hadn't taken the music and note out of her box at church, so she didn't know we were practicing tonite....sure glad I called her.
Guess I better stop before you all doze off....
Hugs,

Done! Your Ticker:
Eileen - Sorry about the bat. My mother had a bat one time and was told to use Ben Gay in the area where the bat was coming in the house. It worked, too! Hope the condo association can help you and I hope he doesn't come back. I think bats are a protected animal so it makes it more difficult to "deal" with since you can only "relocate" them. My mother always joked that this proved she was "batty." We told her we always knew.
Invited out to lunch today and we're going for fish. Should be fun. It's raining here once again this morning. Mild temps compared to most in the country. Still fighting the cold but it's actually a bit better. The office Christmas party was fine yesterday. Can't believe the caterers could come up with so much food without protein in it. I don't know I would have noticed before. I survived on deli turkey, cheese, and salad and was just fine.
Hope you all have a good day today.

Eileen, someone was telling me you were a little batty, but I would not believe them.
Had a great time at the Stars game. They won 2-1 in overtime. A great defensive game. The Stars scored less than 3 minutes into the game and the Coyotes scored with 9 minutes left in the game. Some really hard hitting. Going again on Thursday.
It ended up the usher for our area was our usher 10 years ago when we used to go to indoor soccer games. She told us to come see her anytime, if she has some open seats she will put us in them. We will give it a try Thursday.
Did our shopping for the Christmas dinner this weekend. I will be staying up late cooking on Friday. I am surprising my son and making a Boston Cream Pie. I make it from scratch. I am going to try it for the first time using Splenda (and I am not going to tell him).
Almost time to leave. See y'all tonight.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Why is it when a person can sleep a little later, they always wake up at 6:30???? Oh, well, gives me a chance to find and post on the board.
My DH had a distant cousin to pass away so we will go to the funeral today and the luncheon afterwards. I will make good choices.
I promised my Granddaughter I would go to her Brownie meeting today.
I am taking this day away from the work at church, as there are some other days that are just packed full.
Hope you all have a great Wednesday!
Jeane
Yesterday I called my sugeon's office to see "where we were" in sending my insurance request off. They had finally received my psych eval, which turned out ok.........thank goodness, was afraid they would realize I am a little batty!!! *grin*........sorry, couldn't help it!!! But we are still waiting for letter from doctor. I am meeting with her today around noon, she has been gone on vacation!! So that is a good thing.
I have all of my Christmas shopping finished, still have three pillow cases to make. Have a cookie exchange party tonight. It was supposed to be last night be we have been having snow and extremely cold wind chills, today is supposed to be warmer. Which in Iowa in December is a "relative" word! Also when it get warmer, we end up with more snow! And that is forecast for tomorrow!
Well, thanks for listening. To those of you *****sponded to my post yesterday........thank you. It means alot to know there are people whom I've never met that are willing to pray for me and mine!!
Huggs........Vickie
