I've never participated in this because I am kind of new and every so slightly shy. i also usually don't see the post until 7 or 8 at night and it seems silly to post so late.
Well, today I am home in the morning and I will never make friends if I don't speak up.
It is SNOWING like crazy outside. I listened to the news this morning and they were warning that the morning drive from my suburb to downtown was taking 90 minutes. It is usually only 30. I decided to wait until after rush hour was over and go in then. I will stay late to miss the afternoon rush home.
I still don't have all the Christmas decorations ups and the entire family is coming next Wednesday to stay a week. I am very happy about that but oh, the work.
My silly dogs keep asking to go outside and when they see it is still snowing change their minds. They are labs, for pete's sake. They are supposed to like the cold. I have made them into weenies by babying them.
I think I will make my protein shake warm this morning.
Hope you are all staying warm and dry. Be careful driving and have a very merry day!

Hi Cheryl  Welcome!

I'm south of you in Little Rock and it's messy here, but not snowing. Freezing rain and ice has closed the place down. All my clients have cancelled their appointments and I'm staying in. My dogs are woosies too, they're sleeping on the couch, the old man even has a blanket thrown over him!

Glad to see you posting. We won't let you be shy for too long   LOL

Hi Cheryl!  Don't let the time of day effect you posting on What's New?  Look at the number of views.  Several of us come back later in the day just to read what others have posted.  Me personally, I get on the computer about 10PM and check it out every night.

People use this for two things.  Sometimes to review what they have done for the day and sometimes to review what they are going to do.

Post away.  Get your feet real wet.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi George and my OFF family:

Boy, was I surprised when I looked at the board! It's taken me awhile to get through all the posts. I'm not quite sure about all the drama yet ... did I miss something? I've tried to find it and haven't. Talked with Carla last night when I got home and didn't quite get what was going on.

I had a nice visit with my family, other than the crappy sandwiches at my sister's ... just wish she would get something better to eat.  Jimmy John's is really not the best food ... it's all bread and lettuce. I did actually find one sandwich half that had some meat on it. And on top of that, it's all white bread, so it's useless. I have a couple of chomps on the sandwich as a whole, then pick off whatever meat I can find and discard the rest. My mother thinks they're wonderful ... she has low standards, I guess. But otherwise, it was a nice day. My sister was actually in a good mood, she talked to me! Actually initiated the conversation and didn't yell when she did it. This is a first! It was fun seeing my grandnephews, especially Sammie, who's 4, and just so much fun ... every gift he opened was "just what he wanted!" Ben is much more reserved at 8. This is the first year in a couple of years where everyone was there. The weather was good (other than rain) and traffic was light.

Now Monday, on the other hand, was cold, and because it had rain the night before, everything froze ... my driver's side door was frozen, and I had to crawl in from the passenger side. Mom and I went to see my Aunt Bernice in the nursing home. She doesn't look good ... I didn't recognize at all ... very frail and thin, her hair is thin and needs fixing badly. I don't think I'll see her again. She's 90, and although her heart is strong, she has had strokes in the past and fallen (and now isn't walking at all, which is why she's in the nursing home).

My finances are in sad shape ... I've really screwed up and won't have enough to pay bills this week, which puts me in bad condition before I go in the hospital. Don't know what to do. I'm so deep in the red ... well, it's bad, I won't go into details. It's my own fault, of course.

Oh, I got a new printer/scanner/copier for Christmas and "The Bucket List" from my brother Gary ... he had me in the grab bag, which is all we're doing now (a $50 limit, although Gary and I have decided to exchange presents anyway because we're more like friends than brother/sister). But when I tried to set up the printer, it didn't have a USB cable in it ... so now I have to buy one before I can set it up. Used to be, everything was included ... not anymore. I complained to HP's support, and as I was ranting, the guy hung up on me. How rude!

I have today off ... my last day of vacation! I came home last night ... it was fine driving until I got to Allegan (about 20 minutes from home) and then it started to snow. It's been snowing on and off all morning. Looked outside this morning and my new neighbor was shoveling the driveway. How nice! I went outside to thank him and told him I was going in the hospital next week and why; he said his wife has three hip replacements but he has none.

It's 18 degrees here but not windy at least. Still, it feels very cold, even inside.

Well, I should go take out my comforter from the dryer and see if it's dry. I plan to do some cookie baking today and watch some Christmas movies. Won't get to watch them next week, so got to see them now.

Have a good day.

Hi Eileen,

I'll check with Earl and see if we have an extra USB cable from our old HP.  Earl always saves spare parts so you never know.

Glad you got home safe.  I absolutely adore the Chihuahua salt & pepper shakers. And am going to leave them out all year long.

Hugs, Paulette

Hi George,
Thanks for starting us off.  I'm having my Mom and sister over on Christmas Day for dinner.  Then in the afternoon, my sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews will drop by.  We do puzzles and games and eat nuts, fruit and pies instead of supper.  We are going to do a $10 grab bag this year.  Everyone is hard pressed for money or have their own kids to buy for so this is easier.  We make it fun by wrapping them really fancy.  Then we pick them one at a time from the pile OR you can take one from someone who has already picked one.  It causes quite a few laughs.
I have lots to do to the house before then.  Makes me tired just thinking of it all.  The weather has been overcast and rainy here.  It is 34 degrees but doesn't seem that cold.  There was a little ice on the cars this morning.  Sort of like small hail.  Most nights hubby has started a fire in the fireplace before I get home from work and that helps.
We will go see our son, dil and 3 grandkids on New Years. Were driving up Weds., New Years Eve (5 hour drive) and we'll drive back on Sunday.  It will be great to see them.  We got a hotel room with an indoor pool so we will be going swimming with the grands.
I just love sitting in the dark with the Christmas tree on. It's magical.  I remember doing that ever since I was a little girl and I still feel the same.
I'm sending prayer out to those who need them.
Bev

Hi George and All,
George thankyou for the christmas card. I truely enjoyed it. From one card maker to another tell Mary she did a fine job.
I pre registered for my thyroid surgery on the 23rd. Now I just have to go to see my PCP.
They are removing 2 thyroid nodules and sending them for frozen section while I am still under.
Hopefully that will tell if it is cancer or not.
I went for a walk in the Desoto National Monument today before it got hot. It is very pretty there.
Then went to Wolf Camera, Best Buy, K mart to price a camera that my cousin wants to buy for christmas.
I think we are going to go and buy it at Office max for 139.00. It is a cannon.
I talked to my sister who lives in the Bay area of California for about 35 minutes while she was driving to work.
It is about 85 today and very sunny so I am shoveling sun today!!!!! That is better than snow and ice and cold!!!!!
Well off to my afternoon,
Carla

I like the new look of the board. I feel like a 7 year old sitting here messing with a loose tooth, very uncomfortable. All went well with my moms cat yesterday, we were happy to hear that if they think she can be healed they will fix her and find her a good home. WOW George from Doxie to Greyhound is a big jump, but I'm assuming you have a rescued greyhound and that is a wonderful thing to do. We are doing secret santa all week at work, before hand we write idea lists about ourselves and our likes, collections ETC for the person who has us, Each day you give a small gift with the big gift being given at our luncheon on Thursday , . All I will say is no doubt the person who has me just took a trip to the dollar store before names were even drawn.
We have the yuck weather also. had about an inch of cold blowing snow as I left for work and has been snowing all mornibg. I had a lot of stops to make on my way home but I so hate to drive in this!! It's not going to get any warmer and this shaggy dog needs a cut badly, so we shall see. Last night of Biggest Loser! I can't wait. Chuck is very sick so probably will not make it over tonight..too bad so sad.He had a day in court yesterday and I guess he got sick in the court room and dove for a trash can, it was by the judge. He is lucky he didn't get Shot as I guess it looked like he was diving at the judge. He called me whining about being so sick, I told him there is Pedialite on your fridge from the last time you were sick and would not drink it..I guess he got a neighbor to bring him some 7 up. Good thats using his head. Tonight as I watch TV will work on some more Christmas presents, things are coming together..Fa la la la la la la la la..Blessings
