One year!   How in the world has that time gone by so quickly? I'm sure he's a joy to have. Nothing like a toddler doing the "drunk" walk   LOL

Happy Retirement Diane! 28 years is a proud accomplishment.

Our internet was down all day. Tom said I was having withdrawal symptoms so we went to the movies. Haven't gone to a theater in years and years. Mostly because the seats were too toght and hurt to sit all squeezed in the chairs.

Melanie's reaction to the bracelet was beautiful. I went in with it on my wrist and she spied it immediately. When told she could keep it, her big brown eyes got HUGER (not a real word but it fits) She declared that it was going into her treasure box. All evening long she kept pulling it out to kiss the bracelet and smile. As we were leaving she asked if she could still keep her gems. Oh the hugs and kisses I received - well worth the 50 cents. If the truth be known, for THAT reaction, I would have given her the real ruby bracelet.

Now to check the 97 e-mails I missed yesterday.

Kisses

You're such a wonderful grandma, Annette!  Maybe someday........

What did you go see?  We're talking about going to a movie Christmas Day since it's just the four of us. Jeff and Tess aren't sure what they're doing yet, what with her mom in rehab and all. She does not have an intact family, divorced parents who have remarried, step siblings, mom in rehab.....what a mess. So, she still needs to see what's happening so we can plan our holiday.

There are so many new movies out, it's hard to decide.

Glad you're back among the cyber friends.....you're always missed when you're not here.

Thanks Susan,
We saw "The Day the World Stood Still". The surround sound went right into my chest - awesome. The visual effects were teriffic too.

After so many years of only watching movies at home, this was a culture shock, as was paying $4.50 for a bottle of water. It was fun and we will go more often.

What a wonderful thing to do for Melanie!!  Makes me wish I were a child again or had a child to do this for.  She will have absolutely wonderful memories of you no matter how old she is.  She is a fortunate child to have people in her life who plan for moments like this to surprise and elate her.  (makes me a little sad for all the kids who have no one willing to make them happy, even for fifty cents)

Thank you Margaret,

I learned long ago that the little ones appreciate the tiny gifts as much as and maybe more than big expensive items. Those little things seem to fit their little hands so well. The memories are priceless ...

Good morning Diane and my OFFer's

Wow...retirement. A concept that I'm afraid I'll never see. Life of the self-employed. It's okay though, I love what I do and the freedom and flexibility has given me a wonderful life.

Sounds like your play and props were wonderful. Is this something you will continue to do during retirement? If it is, you will surely enjoy yourself.

Oh I got sooooooooooooooooo much done yesterday!  So much, in fact,  I can have a day doing what I want to do instead of "have" to do. We do have our Christmas party tonight for the salon. It will be a tough one.....the estetician's(sp) dad is terminal now so she probably won't be coming, and our massage therapist's brain tumor has returned, just this weekend, so she's in the hospital. Kind of hard to celebrate with such sadness hanging over our heads.

I'm making the grand debut of my "outside the box" outfit tonight. Leggings and a long cable knit sweater dress. So very cute, but so not like the dowdy clothes I've worn all my life. I've asked Gary to come and snap photos tonight, so maybe I can get one downloaded here. Or....some sweet soul will do it for me?  Hint, hint?

Love you all...hope everyone's day is terrific

Hi, Diane and all!

I know that you are really looking forward to that retirement!  Congratulations.

My grandson stayed over with us Saturday night and we took him to SS and church.  His first time at SS and he will soon be 10!  My granddaughter had a skating party with the Brownies so that is why she wasn't with us.  I think I am going to start having them stay every Saturday night.  Mamma and Daddy won't mind that, I don't think.  My daughter works Sunday nights so used Sundays to sleep.

Tonight is the GS's Christmas program at school so we wil go to that and I will spend the night at DH farm.

Hope  everyone has a great day!

Diane, OH so happy for you here!! (jealous too!) Wow, 6 more days to work!  That sounds heavenly!  I know you will be very busy having a LIFE now!  That's just great!
I've been at the hospital for 35 years, and need to keep working another 9-10 anyway until I get Medicare. I tell them I will be the only person to have worked here 50 years and will march up in my walker!  LOL!
Not much else new here, yesterday I putzed around not doing a whole lot, but getting a lot done.  I bagged up Christmas gifts and got some cards made out to be sent, 3 loads of laundry, made the bed things like that.  Today it's back to work, bah Humbug!
Best get at it I guess!  have a great day all!

Good Monday morning my OFF friends.  I am oh so happy we have lovely weather.  Our daughter got 6" of snow yesterday, all the schools are closed and it isn't supposed to get out of the 20's for a week.  My Sissy finally has electricity back and her road is reopened (had trees down), her Christmas party was cancelled Sat night so she has a TON of left over food she is trying NOT to eat!

Yesterday our son and his family came over to eat Taco Bell and watch "Fred Claus".  Our daughter always sends us TB coupons and everyone loves to eat there!  Our grandson also cleaned out our gutters and he and our son moved my elliptical from the dining room to a spare bedroom.  Took quite a bit of maneuvering, but they did it without hitting any walls!  It was a 90 degree turn in the middle of a very narrow hallway!

Today I have to take a box to the PO for our DIL (a Christmas gift she is sending to her Mom).  I'm sure the PO will be PACKED!  I'll go to the one on base, it is usually not QUITE as crowded.
